we need 1 rb, imo. even though it looks like we'll have 3 good ones on the roster next year.

No, LSU has a half dozen or more backs they are considering. By all accounts LSU is determined to have a rb and has fallback plans to their fallback plans to get at least one running back. Clayton is not only not their only option, he’s not the first option at this point.

Clayton has not had any interests in LSU. That kid scared to compete in at LSU with minimal running backs there. Frank brown and Gibbs in my opinion are better than Clayton both have good hands too. Wanted Clayton but he scared of competition

I'm hoping we're hitting Drennen III real hard.

I don't know if we are, I also don't that we aren't.

It's quiet except on the Gibbs front, so that's why I'm hoping. Of course, if they can get Gibbs to flip that would be just as awesome.

I think it's the opposite. He is pretty far down the list of options for LSU and as a result he's salty towards us.

If Clayton wasnt local no one would know his name. His film really doesn't show SEC caliber.

This is simply not true. Clayton is a 4 star blue chip on most national recruiting sites and shows offers from more than a dozen top teams including top tier SEC teams.

Local people didn’t give him his four star status. I don’t see the point in running the young man down.

Clayton wanted to commit but LSU would not accept is what I’ve read. He was injured at the time and LSU was chasing bigger fish at RB. Cam Akers/Etienne scenario.

Yet chose Colorado? Let's not pretend like Colorado is on the come up or even a good program. There is a reason he has all those "offers" but went to one of the worst P5 schools in the country.

Why didn’t he commit to one of them?

It’s not running him down. It’s being honest

A suggestion for those very good-but not great- high school players. Be patient. They don’t have the leverage with the big schools, compared with the 5 star players. But had he waited patiently, instead of committing early, his spot may have come open. If not, if he is as good as he thinks, then many options would remain for the final signing date.

my guess is we're down to Gibbs or Hubbard as our two most likely.
both seem to "fit" our current system and have similar skill sets.

Someone mentioned him possibly being in play after Berger committed to Wisconsin. How real is the interest here?

The kid isnt scared to compete he just pissed that his dream school (LSU) wouldnt accept his commitment while he was injured!! I guarantee you we'd be willing to accept it now but we've burned that bridge and not sure if Coach O is even willing to go that route of mending relationships, that may take too long at this point in the game!!

He’s not scared to compete. LSU blew him off so he cooled on LSU.
