Collis Temple started the tradition of bringing outstanding young black athletes to U-High back in early 1990's when his kids were in school there. Sometimes it helped alleviate problems at home. I wonder if Temple father and/or sons still have a hand in?

LHSAA rules would not allow this if he transferred from another Louisiana school unless the family moved to BR. Would the same rules apply for out of state transfers unlesss the family moved into th U High attendance zone?

Don't know the answer to this, but it's a 4+ hour drive from Grenada to U-High so you would have to think that he's moving as well

Neither of them are a “public school” with limited admission spots that just happen to open up for top athletes. Anyone with enough money for tuition can send their kid to John Curtis or Evangel.

U-High is absolutely in a different category than everyone else. They open up non existent spots for top athletes, have donors pay the already government subsidized tuition, and then put those athletes in “resources” with the kids who have actual learning disabilities just so they can make grades.

I remember when U-High’s top athletes went on to play college ball at Tulane and ULL, and they started in kindergarten just like all the other students.

If it helps good players come to LSU (which is what we all want) they gotta do what they gotta do…

Honestly, it seems to have the opposite effect about half the time.

And it isn’t just the athletes. A lot of kids who go to U-High end up out of state for college. You spend years already on LSU’ s campus. By the time you graduate, you’re looking for something new

The problem is that it doesn't normally. I have high hopes for Lamar Brown, but who is our best U-High football player in the 21st century? Jaquelin Roy or Nick Brossette? They were decent but U-High's studs all went to Bama.

Amazing.. we should call and thank our congressmen and state senators. Love to see tax dollars go to good use. you might think the lab school is there to have an incubator of teaching opportunities for the LSU School of Education and future teachers, but no …. That $10,000-ish state funded scholarship for every student at the school can be used for other positive endeavors … such as keeping costs low for football players and reducing out-of-pocket tuition for out-of-state athletes to be placed. Bravo!
