look....im all on board and a kelly defender. also applaud the raymond hire.

but the patience will run thin if the dLine and cbs perform poorly.

had multiple chances at DTs from the portal and even recent recruiting. and I want to add that im cautiously optimistic with even the spring portal. I am talking about the 2024 season.

we are putting our money where our mouth is with Bayou Traditions. woodward has paid up with this staff, as well.

there need not be any depth issues at DT this year.

A proper staff will evaluate talent inhouse thoroughly before bringing in every Tom, Dick and Harry from the transfer portal. Look what happened this season! I can't think of one TP player that worked out for us on defense.

Even if we don't bring in one more transfer, I have the utmost confidence that this new staff will significantly improve our defense. Just getting back to an aggressive LSU style scheme alone will probably move us up 40-50 spots. House's "bend but don't break" soft zone BS WAS NOT LSU defense.

I think our staff is entirely new and want to go through Spring practice to better evaluate what they have.

100% agree

Can't tell me that the talent we have is as bad as they performed. It's also a vote of confidence to the recruits which might go a long way in preventing a fallout if we add someone in the spring.

BK has made it more than clear that he intends to build his roster from hs and top off the weak spots with transfers. It's too early to panic over DT. BK has a plan, and it will play out in a positive way.

I would prefer talented freshmen and sophomores take their lumps then lower tier Junior and senior transfers taking them. I’m not sure if that’s what Kelly is thinking or not.

You do realize that DT has the least amount of depth in the sport? IN terms of being elite at least.

Who was our last DT all American? #72 Dorsey I believe...that was a long time ago

Mostly but on a couple occasions have just been flat out beat in the portal game. It’s ok to admit it has and will continue to happen. To everyone.

Exactly, see what we have, process a few and grab the best in the Spring portal (which will have talent) if needed

there wasn’t a need to rush and get into bidding wars with these other schools right now

Yes I do realize that.

Other schools that pile them up
Realize that as well. They are shooting for the playoffs.

what does that mean, and how to do measure "chance"?

Does simply entering the transfer portal entitle LSU to a chance at said player?

You have zero chance at them if they don’t enter the portal.

So yes. You have a chance if they enter.

ESpecially if they are familiar with our depth situation

The pickins will be slim in the spring portal window.

Aren't we already at the scholarship limit? If that's the case, we can't sign anymore guys until more transfer out or retire from football

Everyone knows tampering/nudging happens, we can get anyone we want that is a stud at a smaller school who wants to start in the SEC once we know what spots we have open

He also brought in Denver Harris last year knowing his character issues

May be true for defensive backfield, but we actually just need bodies at DT.
