At LSU he plays from day one at DE. At bama he isn't playing from day one a Jack LB.

If hes as good as they say, He will play wherever he goes.

A Freshman LB plays every year at Bama.

07 Rolondo
08 Hightower
09 Nico Johnson
10 CJ Mosley
11 Trey Depriest

He would be no different. If he is good enough he'll make it on the field.

False hopes and false dreams. The REC checkbook is much higher than what LSU can offer and also dumber. We can't compete on Bama's level of cheating. We'll just stick to the guys who want to come here on our budget, seems to be working fine...

There is a big difference between getting some playing time and playing considerably, which is what he would do at LSU. He would maybe even start at LSU his freshman year. He would get playing time at Bama, but he would only start if a few players ahead of him got injured. It's not easy to play OLB when you've been a DE for years.

That's a good point.

Similarly, it wouldn't be easy to go straight to DE in the NFL after playing LB in college.

It happens every yr. Teams draft guys who were DE and project them at OLB. Mingo will definitely play OLB and will be probably be drafted before Sam, because he projects better there than Sam.

It not that hard to learn if you are a fluid enough athlete its a seemless transition. The only players that have trouble with the transition are those with stiff hips and poor lateral agility.

The LB part of "JACK LB" is a misnomer, unless it's against a base offense set, the JACK is down in a 3 point stance. It's more of a DE playing some LB than a LB playing some DE. So LSU would be one of the offenses he would be standing against if he were to come to Bama, but he'd still be doing the same stuff he'd do at DE. Bama does not stress coverage skills at the position, he'll probably drop in a token zone 2 or 3 times a game.

Or he gets huge and ends up at 5 tech, which is still a passrushing role. Same position Justin Smith, Haloti Ngata, JJ Watt, and Calais Campbell have thrived in.

RN seems like a level headed recruit.
He is seeing the big picture.
Any money offered him would dwarf in comparison to the money he will earn at the next level if he plays his cards right.

Not every recruit can be bought.

What are you saying, that he wont make it to the NFL at Bama? You have seen one video interview and you assume this kid is level headed.
What does LSU have the Bama does not?

What does Bama offer that LSU doesn't? Other than the opportunity to hate your coach. Can't argue with little Nicky's success. He has a "win at all costs " mentality. Dirty tricks, walking every thin line, muddying the waters, and a willingness to lie to recruits and discard them without hesitation...those are the things you get with Saban. We know from experience. Countless players told me personally how much they disliked playing for him and how big of an A-hole he is. LSU players see it as a family. It's a major difference in quality of life for a college kid that already has the normal stresses of playing college football.

Well whats else did you talk about. All I see is Saban bash.
And the same old Saban bash at that.

But to actually add to this discussion let me ask you this. In what way will the name of the position based on school differ from the actual position on the field? Its the same position, rush end. You can call it what you want. The fact remains, he will not be "better" in either, he will make both D's better instantly. He has a chance to start day one.
With the opportunity to play and grow into other positions. Both teams will make a spot for him.
