Not sure what to read into this. This is not near the top of the local northeast fl qb ranks and stats. Do not know enough about their offense and also the talent around him.

He’s going to be 16 in college. Not good

I don't see that being a good thing. Too young.

You have to take a QB every year and his potential is there. It’s Nuss gig next year but we’ll need to keep him healthy for sure.

Hurley has the work ethic to really develop.

Considering what Denbrock and Sloan have accomplished with JD, let’s give them the opportunity to develop Collins and Hurley before we process them on a message board.

I think it’s clear we’re going all in on 2025 QBs and Hurley is a backup plan / QB room filler. Boom/bust kind of guy. If he doesn’t work out and we miss on 2025 we’ll grab a portal QB.

I think it’s not so dire. He seems to have enough talent to take a shot on. But an elite QB in 2025 would be huge.

I wouldn't sleep on Collins, there is physical talent there and he seems coachable so he could end up being very very good.

That is the ultimate goal, however. Fingers crossed.

Ever since he reclassified a second time, I've wondered what the end goal truly was for him.

Even if he is big for his age, a 16 or 17 year old freshman is going to be at a disadvantage competing with players who could be as many as 3 years older than him.

Is the idea to get on campus as soon as possible to get college level coaching full time as soon as possible ?

If that's the case, is he going to be patient enough to wait his turn, a chance that might never come at LSU ?

I guess I just don't get what the rush is, when it really puts him at a disadvantage when it come to competition for a starting job.

Totally agree. The kid has the right attitude and drive and Sloan has done wonders with JD. Hurley is young and if he's patient, lets see how he develops.

His first couple games were really rough stats wise. So actually seems like he's been playing better with those totals. He plays a in tough division... could just be oline or wrs aren't helping the case either.

Arch had some very bad games last yr as the #1 qb prospect. And to others point , he's 16. I dont see that as a negative though. Way he's built at that age, leaves only accuracy and pocket development to improve. All camp reports are that he slings it with a flip of the wrist... so he's got all the natural gifts.

His approach and maturity seem to be off the charts as well. Wouldn't bet against a kid that determined in the long run.

Hurley has looked plain bad. Very inaccurate if you’ve looked at his film.

Get Underwood, McIntyre or go back to the transfer portal. You won’t get a Jayden Daniels every time. But, the success rate is better than people think especially when you consider our last two transfer QB starters were Heisman worthy

Pretty much this. The staff knows he has at least 1 year and probably 2 before he is even in the conversation. Gives him time to develop and gives the staff time to find alternatives if he doesn't.

He will be fine only 16yrs old and will definitely sit learn the system for 2yrs minimum. Gives him time to grow and work on things.

Nothing I've watched of him really stands out. But I think recruiting QBs today is far different than ever before because of the prevalence of transfers. Coaches are probably a bit more willing to take a guy with potentially high "upside" knowing that if he doesn't develop they can always mine the transfer portal for a starter. Of the current top QBs to this point damn near all of them are transfers:

Penix
Daniels
Williams
Nix
Gabriel
Hartman.

Really only Brady Cook , Carson Beck, and Drake Maye are "homegrown".

Hurley is still a very young player relative to his current physical development. If he is a guy who understands and is willing to work for a few years with little likelihood of playing why not give him a shot? If the work pans out, great! If not, the "miss" doesn't really set you back anymore.

You mentioned it, patience is the key with Hurley. He will need time to develop. All the character traits are there for him to understand the importance of that. If he can develop at the right pace, the arm talent is there to keep this offense open and hard to defend. That kind of arm talent can put the ball in some incredible spots.

It’s nice to be in a spot where we are worrying about the QB transition in 2 years from now.

Good think we have a forgotten guy Ricky Collins. Really feel he could have something to say after Nuss is done.

I'd be surprised if LSU doesn't pursue a Transfer QB this offseason with at least 2 years of eligibility left.

1 year to compete with Nuss, if Nuss does well enough to go pro you have a veteran option to compete with Collins/Hurley (assuming Collins doesn't transfer).

Kind of the way of the world now.

I think there is a very high chance that LSU brings in a transfer QB this offseason.

1. To compete with Nuss.
2. To provide depth, as I doubt the staff is comfortable with the reserves being a RS-Freshman and a 17 year old true Freshman.

He'll be competing against guys who are 6-7 years older than him

I like rickie. I think if he can clean up his mechanics and work on his accuracy, then he could be really good.
