Seems like the closer they are to LSU, less likely they make it to campus. Been like that for awhile especially U high. So big notables have went elsewhere with good success pre NIL era.

You always want good players.

Under no circumstances is landing blue chip recruits a bad thing.

Buttttttt Oline is the hardest position to project. Trai Turner is one of the best Gaurds LSU has had in 20+ years.

The year he was coming out there was a 5* OG from Texas named Sedrick Flowers.

Sedrick never made an NFL roster. Trai is a 10+ year NFL vet.

One player does not make or break a program. Would be cool to have him- if not I hope it's not SEC.

Great player.

On3 now lists him as an “Athlete” instead of OL because he’s interested in playing Defense now.

Must Get

As much at it hurts my pride, I support what seems to be the evolved roster strategy - build your base through traditional high school recurring.

Offering what seems to be about in the top 10 range or so in terms of NIL funding thus far. Focused on LA talent, East Texas, and Gulf Coast.

A recruit going way out of our internal salary cap, we seem to be in the mindset of spending that same dollar amount on a proven transfer portal player. This made us a Top 3 type of program with NIL with the portal.

I like where we stand philosophically, so if we don’t get him, we now know that we are willing to spend those same resources or more on a veteran proven player.

Texas will get into the mix because of money not because of anything else.

He should end up at LSU. But I’m not as confident as I was when we were going after a UHigh kid like Moses last year.

The schools know how to play this game too. If I am UT or aTm and I suspect Brown would choose LSU straight up over any other school then I would make you work for it and make you spend as much money as I can.

I am sure glad LSU doesn't do this kind of thing.

The point is does he care. If he is just a mercenary who is looking to find the most money, then he will probably end up in Texas. Let's face it a lot of U High guys have no loyalty to Baton Rouge. If he comes to LSU, I will pull for him. If he doesn't I will pull against him.

Buddy who closely follows Texas recruiting is saying Texas is throwing big money at kids right now. More than they have before so Im sure thats why they are being mentioned now.

Think we need this guy. Just to show that we are backing our new DL coach and doing what we need to get the best guys for him.

We average one 5? player since nil became a thing. Lost 2 out of the same class in Heard and Womack. I'd assume this kid becomes a 5? and with that being said, give me a 5? CB to pair with Pickett for 2 seasons. We seem to have pretty good luck with turning 3? and 4? WRs into NFL Probowlers. Lil Nuss will be our next big get in recruiting with MVB and Ju holding it down next season at QB. Now, if it were an Oline or Dline guy, I wouldn't pitch a fit either. Another Will C would be NICE

Leads to how I will approach the next thread. We went all out in the portal after being told we would build from highschool…
I think they had to pivot when the saw the results of not having enough money to compete with other large schools. It’s not too different from CEOs spinning problems to their investors to keep them happy for a little longer
