Probably a lot less than if he was recruiting right now instead of coaching. The timing of the CWS is a negative when it comes to recruiting.

Maybe. But I think he learned sone things from the 2023 championship regarding recruiting while competing in Omaha. He probably had a better plan for it this go-round.

One quick look at their roster would tell you that every single player on their roster was either a junior or senior. They build strictly through upperclassman in the portal

You only have 4 guys out of eligibility, obviously others that will get drafted and sign, but that number is unknown- you already have 18 HS commits, 2 Juco commits, and 2 portal commits. And a reduced roster next year. This will be interesting to say the least.

I expect Calloway from UNO he’s the top rated two way player in the portal right now. CJJ also said earlier this year they would be picky with transfers. Quality over quantity. You can bet whoever he picks up in the portal will be major contributors.

new rule to go with reduced roster - coaches can have players "designated* who do not count against your 34 man roster limit. No known limit on the number of players you can have under this "designated". label but appears there is a loophole in the reduced roster....say it ain't so

I got bored and watched the highlights from the regional last year,in the second game against wofford their starter was a bean pole named Cameron or Camden wicker ,I believe it was one of those two first names, that named sounded really familiar.

did he agree to come here last off season but ended up getting drafted or something? Just curious, I know i remember that name and not just from that game

Yep. I agree.

Nothing speaks louder to a recruit than losing out before Regional play. No highschooler gives a rats arse about playing on the largest scene in college baseball. How dare CJJ win it all... again.

He was the kid that Moscona broke the news of him committing to us, except he never committed to us. All the local news people ran with the story and no one did any fact checking. The only people that got it right from the beginning are on this board.

Calloway batted .390 this year with 18 homers and 63 RBI’s. Jesus. Sign him up.

Yeah, I feel the most sympathy for baseball coaches for one obvious reason. You can sign the best class in the history of college baseball and if a bunch of them are high draft picks and opt for the quick money, your class has been weakened even with amazing recruiting. Of course, it is necessary to get experienced players to some extent regardless but maybe he should visit Madam Vera the fortune teller to find out which of the SUPPOSED stud HS signees will never set foot again in Baton Rouge.

Also, I have noticed that the recruiting services miss badly on a lot of players. Last year for example, more LSU HS signees should have been lost if their national ratings had been correct but apparently the major league scouts didn't agree with "Top 50 HS player" or "Top 100 HS player" because they weren't drafted as high as predicted (even factoring the college players BTW).

Is CJJ waiting until after the ceremony tomorrow night to close the book on this season out of respect for the players, before starting to talk about next year and the portal.

I had expected some names to prop in the portal yesterday or today, but that has not materialized.
