Easily a Ten as a recruiter. There are only 4 or 5 other programs than can make a claim of having more talent.

You should remember that 1st class was more on Saban than Miles. We didn't have many spots available and Miles only had a month to bring in the rest...so discard that year to give him a true recruiting ranking.
Of you list of kids that "didn't sign with LSU" I recall that Davis, Alexander, and Harris did not have offers in the end, Benton "signed with LSU twice but was a dumb dumb and Sentimore would not accept a grayshirt.
With all of that said Miles' recruiting is a 9. If he could attract better QBs then it'd be damn near perfect!

Kinda like in golf. To get his handicap you should through out his best class and worst class then get an average.

Nic Harris shouldn't be listed.
Miles gets a 9. Has done a great job of recruiting, only exception being inability to keep offensive lineman.

Easily a 9 or higher. He's even pulled QBs...they just haven't panned out as well.

My thoughts exactly. If the other top recruiters were handicapped by hostile fans, and hostile media, they would not be as successful. For this reason I give him a 10. In this assessment, is the fact that he has hired good recruiters, but has had turnovers on the staff and still gets 'em to come to LSU. So I guess that he is also a good recruiter recruiter.

A lot of this has had to do with what has been available in LA and bordering states.
I give him a 9.3. If he ends up with a top 3 class for 2011, then I would raise it to 9.7.

I dont think it is as easy as you think. In this day universities are on a much more even playing scale
at lsu? lsu is easily one of the top 5 easiest places to recruit. 1. resources 2. facilities 3. in-state talent 4. most elite conference----

our next coach will be able to recruit here just as well as miles--- and i firmly believe that.
Go back and look at the classes. And to be honest only people in the sec think we are the best conference. And yes a lot of other schools have just as much resources and just as good facilities we have. Especially in the sec. And check the years that were down years in la and you will find that we had about 50-50 in state to out of state. Plus u argument for saying that it's easy to recruit Louisiana means it doesn't matter what instate talent we get cus they would automatically come here. So think about the east coast guys, then think about the Michigan/ ohio five star players we got. We took them from programs that are rt up there with facilities . Les consitantly recruits against ou, Texas, the sec west, uf, uga, and Miami. Not too many coaches can say the succesfully can do that without leading to sanctions. All you people are just trying to flame one of the best recruiters in the country.

If he is as bad a coach as quite a few here say then he has to be the #1 recruiter in the nation.

Louisiana is a small state. Yes we have talent, but rarely enough to fill a whole class. You get the guys as a base then move from there. Not to mention we rarely have good qbs, and rarely have good linebackers. So we have to go out of state for those.
I know for a fact one yr we had more oos than instate. If LSU was so easy to recruit, then why didn't we have a #1 class until 2002? Not to mention the diff between 1-3 is very small from year to year.

holy shite this post is hard to decipher, learn how to quote man 
and the rest of those people are only kidding themselves. Look at the complete dominance by the SEC in the BCS era. Look at how many people make the NFL each year from the SEC and start in the NFL. The SEC is the most elite conference, PERIOD!
the rest of your post i completely agree with. It is hard to go in and recruit against other big name programs in their own backyards and I don't care what excuses people wanna make, landing the likes of PP, ware, shepherd, loston, tolliver, barksdale OOS are huge gets.

Brings in highly ranked classes, but there are too many holes for it to be higher than that. The QB and OLine recruiting especially has been subpar.

to the guy who said 5/10, you sir are not a good evaluator of talent and i damn sure hope you don't write performance reports for work. Miles flipping Patrick Peterson alone was one of the biggest recruiting wins LSU history considering how engrained UM was in his blood and now he has his ultra talented brother also because of that init effort

As much as I hate to say it, it was Saban that started LSU on a recruiting roll. He went in there and updated the facilities because he knew that that would help bring in the talent. Miles has recruited well dont get me wrong, but he was set up to succeed in that category when he took the job. I just wish he could recruit a QB that would work in this so called offense they are running.
