.......as i was saying, the elite talent in this state is what makes it one of the top/easiest places to recruit. states such as indiana, michigan, oregon, nebraska, etc, dont have that luxury.---and the fact we have great facilities, resources, tradition, play in a power conference also help. as ive been suggesting, it would be hard to fail as a recruiter. pending a travesty, LSU will always bring in a elite class, no matter the coach.

oh come on. certainly we all realize things at LSU are much different now, then ever before---i have confidence we would still recruit well without miles, if you guys disagree, that is fine.

So, basically your point is that LSU is going to be in the Top 5 in recruiting , regardless of coach because, In contrast to the other at least 15-20 schools with similar if not better facilities, academia, history , weather, location, appeal to parents amongst other factors - WE ARE THE ONE AND ONLY AWESOME LSU

Miles is a top notch recruiter but remember neither miles or lil nicky had top 10 classes at okie state or mich. state.
miles has to get dinged for the qb situation,ol lacking talent and no fb in sight. LSU is overloaded with talent at rb, wr, db, and dl thus causing recruiting classes to be ranked very high.
Recruiting is about filling "NEEDS" and he is not as good at that as he is at getting a highly ranked class. Miles is a 8.5.

Note to Miles Never recruit a QB that throws a 92 mph fastball unless you recruit a second QB that year. Lee played us for an extra 3 million. Originally they were going to give him 2 million.

That is true and it is also true that many folks improve with experience (especially in new places) and everyone claims that Saban is better now than he was 10 years back because he has been tempered by his positive work with LSU and the negative one with the Dolphins.
Similarly both Miles and Saban have become better coaches at recruiting than they were in their previous schools - that is precisely what everyone strives to be in real life - be better at a higher position at the next job.

I agree that ultimately it is on the HC's head - good or bad and this time the bad has us in quite a quandary.

We are extremely good at multiple positions and barring the 2001 Canes and 2004 Trojans (in the last couple of decades) there are very few teams in entire CFB history that are loaded at every single position.
CFB is still talent driven enough that a team with enough superstars in other positions can fill or cover the lack in some positions.
I am not defending our QB position but I can see how some risks got us into this. If this is not rectified then that is a different story (given his recruiting capabilities - I think there is a high possibility that Miles takes care of this asap).

I still think this is a huge myth. Our oline only sucked one season under miles. The only class that was a wash under miles was 2006. Still the only guy in that class that would have started for us was phil loadholt.
None of those guys from that class were ever going to start over helms, miller, herman, ciron, hitt, barksdale. Its not les miles fault ciron drank himself from a first rounder to fat and lazy.
Hell i doubt any of those guys would be starting over josh d rt now or blackwell. But yes it sucks we have some young guys in there like williford cus of injuries. But williford passed up the rest of the guys that are still on the team.
Les has had 25 o lineman from 05-10. If anything blame saban for dropping the ball on the 05 class and checking out way before the season was over. Les signed a but lod of guys in 06 that either transferred had career ending injuries or got kicked off. So in 06 we were desperate for bodies cus of Sabans lack of oline recruiting. There i said it. 02 and 03 SABAN dropped the ball big time on oline recruiting. I still find it funny that people have to be blinded by the facts cus of their hate for someone.

anytime you have williford and hurst starting that indicates a lack of talent for an SEC CHAMPION TEAM. furthermore, it indicates the guys on the bench are not so good as well. if we have another injury for a game or the wrong quarter it could be very costly for us.

how do you know? the oline has seemed improved with the younger guys. So other players can move up the depth chart cus they are good. But when olinemen move up the dpth chart it is because they suck? 3 star olinemen usually are the guys making bank in the nfl. Where is faulk? these guys are obviously better.

There is no point in discussing because I don't think anyone is interested in gathering and analyzing the facts before presenting their case, reading the replies for a rebuttal. This just seems to be a variation of the normal - Miles sucks thread - lets attribute every recruiting success to the
- incomparable LSU facilities
- attractions of cosmopolitan Baton Rouge
- wonderful weather ala San Diego
- any position coach/player/TAF/Alumni
every recruiting loss is obviously on Miles!
