For those focused on star rankings

Just remember players like Justin Jefferson and Tyran Mathieu, who were both rated as 3 stars or less. It happens every year. I trust our staff's evaluation of these players.

Which teams are in the playoff just about every year? And what do their star rankings look like?
TM and Jefferson’s are outliers, not exceptions that disprove the rule. You need big talent to beat the best teams consistently.

There is a very strong correlation to signing top 100 talent and winning Nattys. It matters to a degree.

Dez-is a freak should be a 5 star
Atkins is up for mr football in the state of Texas only defensive player
Woodland- got Mississippi player of the year
Caden- was put up unreal stats in every game of the playoffs
I can on with others.
Several guys that are very underrated

Throwing around the same three star outliers every year isn’t making the strong case you think it is.

Yup and according to your logic, Tenn, UF, Ole Miss and others should have titles but they don’t.

In the Tygee Hill transfer thread (the 3-star D-lineman) I saw multiple people say he’s just not a SEC quality player
For every 1 Justin Jefferson there’s 10 Tygee Hill’s. I’m not a star gazer but let’s not act like all these 2 and 3 stars will pan out just because LSU is taking them

Of course every 3 star won't be like those guys. What they can be is players who help us win games. I've watched film on every player we get, and some of these 3 star players will be very good. And look at all the 5 star players that have been a total bust. All I'm saying is this shite isn't an exact science. Louisiana will be a lot deeper over the next couple years, and as long as we're consistently in the top 10 we'll be competing for a playoff spot. I don't think we will finish number 12 every year.

You forgot Jacob Hester.
So that's what, 3 in 20 years? Screw it, let's jsut sign 3 stars now.
Or maybe just understand that a top 5 class is special and a good thing to shoot for. At the same time understand that 1-5 are about the same. And then 5-15 or even 20 are probably about the same as well. And even then the compilation of the last 2-3 classes tells you more than any individual class does. Specifically, what places you are filling with elite talent or coachable near-elite talent to properly fill a roster?
Recruiting and roster management can mean a class that looks less productive may be a better haul toward getting your team over the hump.

Washington and Michigan haven’t had top classes. LSU having the 12 class is an outlier too. It’s ok to have a solid class to fill needs sandwich in between top 10 classes.

Yep I'm totally delusional LSU will be fine. Sorry I'm not crying about recruiting like a lot of people on here. LSU will finish in the top 10 in recruiting more years than not. I'll choose to let the coaching staff do their job. I'll let you and other cry about this shite.

Yet the best teams in the country year after year are also the teams with all the stars.
More 5 stars pan out than 4 stars, more 4 stars pan put than 3 stars...
This fantasy world some folks live in where all 5 stars are busts and 3 stars rule the field is just that...a fantasy and not reality.

D. Keys is a mofo and Defensive MVP of State Championship in Texas. Should be 5 star.

I mean, ON3, who has the most reliable ratings since 24/7 started going downhill has LSU as having the 6th overall class. We got the 5th last year and have a legit shot at #1 this year. You stack #5 on top of #6 on top of #1, your roster will be in great shape.

Look at the offer list. AL, GA, Ohio State, MI, Oregon or ULL, TU, Ms St, AZ, Kentucky

The glass half full people are terrible on here. Recruiting rankings directly correlate to the playoffs and we sure do love average defensive players

What team consistently competes for a national championship that is made up of 3 star players and is ranked out of the Top 10 in the Team Recruiting rankings?
