A bit vague, but….

Could it also mean Xavier Filsaime?

Are you hearing Derek Williams name specifically or just that a Texas DB is entering the portal? I ask because I haven't seen anything about Williams but have seen rumors this morning that someone offered their CB, Muhammad, a big bag and he is likely taking it.

Agree. He and Capt aren’t always 100% right in the end (because no one is) but they are the most reliable on this board.

doesn’t lack a physical presence to his play style. Knock back tackler that plays with some violence, will strike you. Has the ability to line up over the slot and match up with bigger bodied receivers and tight ends in the passing game.

Yes please.

Williams worries me due to the injury. Part of the issue we had with Speights(other than House) was he missed all of spring due to injury. I thought he played out of shape and still not 100%.

I worry the same would happen to Williams, if he injured his ACL in October, when will he be 100% and fully back to his athletic ability

Texas has too many talented DB’s in really crowded room.

Didn’t Zy tear his ACL in 2023 during the Army game? That was late October and he was practicing in the Fall but didn’t get game action until a few games into the season.

would be a monster pickup

TX people love him. Some say he's the most athletic Safety on the current roster. Prior to his injury he flashed in games including @Michigan where he had a pic

God make this happen

yep, and this isn't to say he can't be a stud. Just a worry.

If this actually happens I will eat all the crow I deserve for thinking this is too good to be true.

Y’all if D Williams is fully healed and on our roster next season- we are back.

I think our roster next season is top 5 in the country.

I think both OL and DL will still be lacking somewhat. Landing Derek would make me feel good about the starting secondary

I'm with you. I'd be thrilled to have him but at the same time, how far along is he. We need him to be an impact player. Is he ready to do that game 1 or is it an on ramp situation to get him up to speed gradually. Can the rest of the defensive improvements be enough to cover for him if he's not ready

We’ve got the staff, the players, and the QB.
No reason we can’t be at least 10-2 and in Atlanta this December

The fact that he may not be ready to go in game one next year may be a factor in his going to the portal. He may see himself falling further behind in Texas if he cannot see early playing time and he will face more of an uphill battle there.
At LSU, he gets PT as soon as he is physically able.

I’m on board. You’ve been spot on with just about every transfer. Let’s ride!

He’s better than anybody we have at safety right now but I’m not banking on it

I believe Texas portal days will open again in the next few weeks. Their HC Sark name is being brought up multiple times recently for one of the many HC positions that have opened. Per Shefty, sark has express his wants to be back in the pro game. When a HC leaves/quits/fired the portal window reopens.
