Les Miles was the best football recruiting head coach LSU has EVER had so your argument is BLAH!!
The guy before him was pretty good too.

There are reasons to complain about Les, but his inability to sign top Louisiana prospects isn't one of them. No, not every single one signed with LSU, but a hell of a lot more did than didn't.
Yep X 1000. Les was an awesome recruiter. The NFL bears testimony to this. It is replete with his recruits.

I think from the very little we've seen so far that they knew what they were doing by offering and getting Clyde Edwards-Helaire on board first. Etienne was always going to be option B behind Edwards-Helaire and Cam Akers

Miles was fired before the time period that would have allowed him to visit TE outside of LSU's campus.

Had Mike's not been fired, Cam Akers is more likely than not at lsu and t.e. Still at Clemson. Only difference, lsu would have had the better player

Have an up vote. I think your post might have been dead on.

If all it took to unload GoodOleLess was to miss out on CA & TE, see you guys around.

WGAF? Travis cried about not being pandered and cried about the late LSU offer........yet committed to Litterly the last school that offered him.

to be fair, Miles' staff wasn't going to offer him.
I mean, it's not like he was just lazy. They just weren't interested.
correct. He was a backup plan that Orgeron went after when the primary target fell through. It's easier for the family to just assume Miles dropped the ball than admit that though.

I'm over this and don't really care. I wish the kid luck, but he basically threw a frick you at LSU by signing with Clemson. LSU recruited him hard at the end when Orgeron took over and Miles was gone. Davo shows up one fricking time to his house invites him to campus where he gives him the dog and pony show treatment with wearing the uniform and all, and he selfishly signs with them out of spite for LSU even though Miles is long gone. Screw him, this is bullshite news!

I'm just hoping Ed O doesn't not try to recruit a kid because of the same mindset Miles might of had.
You say this like Miles wasn't a pretty damn strong recruiter. Etienne was a borderline prospect. Those guys get slow-played. Akers was better and so is CEH.

That's a pretty trashy comment

If he wanted attention from COACHES and COACH O tried and tried as you said...then it shouldn't matter how late..Coach O didn't have tons of time.. TE lying and just didn't want to come to lsu... who cares.

He got his feelings hurt because LSU didn't make him a priority and offered him too late to be considered. Funny, because Clemson offered him even later and wouldn't have bothered at all except their RB Cordarrian Richardson, decommitted on them in December, which means he was their backup plan at running back too

quote:She's obviously bitter. Miles was very baffling in certain recruiting strategies, but overall he still did an outstanding job recruiting. Nobody succeeded with so much working against him. Travis may or may not be a miss by Les.
Subsequently Miles got fired but before that Miles cashed in all his chips on Cam Akers and if Miles would have just put the time in with TE he would have came to LSU.

LSU gave the Etienne kid an offer. If he really wanted to be at LSU, then he would be at LSU. Every family member, best friend, handler, etc. thinks "their guy" is the best player ever and every coach should be falling all over themselves to recruit him. Les's staff made a decision not to make the guy a top priority. Get over it! Criticize Miles all you want, but he showed a pretty good ability to identify and bring in top flight RB's
Well said. People may have their reasons for knocking Miles, but his recruiting acumen isn't one of them.

If the kid was a LSU Tiger than he would have jumped at the opportunity to play there no matter the situation. I wish him luck and am more than happy with CEH tearing shite up already as a freshman.

A name like "Travis Etienne" should be at LSU. It would break my heart if we ever miss out on a kid whose last name is "Etouffee".

I wonder if she knows there are restrictions on Head Coaches visiting recruits?
