I work with a lady who is the cousin of Travis, whom is now at Clemson doing good things. She started talking about how much she hates LSU because Les Miles never cared about traveling 45 min. to see TE but used LF7 as a recruiting tool to communicate with TE. TE liked talking to LF7 but really wanted the attention from the coaches. Subsequently Miles got fired but before that Miles cashed in all his chips on Cam Akers and if Miles would have just put the time in with TE he would have came to LSU.

I know this is a late post about the issue and I'm just hearing this from her and we normally don't speak. However, you can see this issue is probably why a lot of top Louisiana recruits never came to LSU because Miles never put of the time of day to care about players who actually loved LSU. I know we can't sign everyone but this is just dumb imo.

I liked Miles in some situations but after hearing this is baffling to me to think that he never once visited him at home but invited him to LSU.

She also stated that Ed tried multiple times after in home visits and phone calls to get TE to sign with LSU but it was too late because Miles did not make him a priority even when Ed was the RC.

to be fair, Miles' staff wasn't going to offer him.

I mean, it's not like he was just lazy. They just weren't interested. Hindsight that was the wrong approach.

They offered him on Dec 27. I would say she knows more based on their relationship, but it's whatever now. I'm just hoping Ed O doesn't not try to recruit a kid because of the same mindset Miles might of had.

Clemson came out of no where at the end of his process to get him, so saying it was "too late" once Ed was hired is bullshite

Best of luck to him at Clemson but O can handle his own when it comes to recruiting.

i always thought he just didn't like being a backup plan for LSU. unless someone just completely falls asleep at the wheel we should always have good rb's.

From Bama to Texas AM to....Clemson?

Sounds like someone highly interested in getting away.

There are reasons to complain about Les, but his inability to sign top Louisiana prospects isn't one of them. No, not every single one signed with LSU, but a hell of a lot more did than didn't.

LSU gave the Etienne kid an offer. If he really wanted to be at LSU, then he would be at LSU.

Every family member, best friend, handler, etc. thinks "their guy" is the best player ever and every coach should be falling all over themselves to recruit him. Les's staff made a decision not to make the guy a top priority. Get over it! Criticize Miles all you want, but he showed a pretty good ability to identify and bring in top flight RB's

Seems to me LSU erred, not just Miles. Waiting til 12/ 26 to offer?
Maybe The Orgeron will not make these mistakes.
Who was the recruiting coordinator last year? He, too, bears part of the blame.

dude isn't really that good, this board fell in love with him for a brief few weeks after we missed on Akers, then he became so underrated by the youtube scouts.

kid wanted his arse kissed but was a middling talent....later

We won't really know if this was a mistake or not until we actually see Travis play, right? Especially as compared to Edwards-Helaire. I mean, it was going to be hard to bring in a bevy of 4 to 5 star running backs in this last class given that we all know this is Guice's year, and Williams and Brossette are very capable backups. So anyone coming in would probably have to wait a year to see any significant playing time. And no one wants to wait anymore. Mistake? We shall see.

Clyde is the jewel of last year's RB class. Since he committed so early, he didn't get the respect. TE would be behind him on the depth chart. I wish TE well at Clemson, but Clyde is already turning heads and will all season if he stays healthy. Clyde will be our number 1 next year with Brosette and our freshmen. Want Joiner bad.

Les Miles was the best football recruiting head coach LSU has EVER had so your argument is BLAH!! And no LSU coach has ever put as many players in the NFL. Maybe Orgeron can be better we will find out.
