Are we in good shape regarding these two positions? Last year we struggled at these positions. But was it bc of coaching?

Do we actually need to recruit 1-2 of these positions to be in a better position to make a run at the championship?

If we are going to sniff a championship we will need to add at least one starting Corner and DT if not 2 of each. Downvote away

CB i think will be pretty strong. Lot more depth and experience in the secondary compared to last year.

DT is a big question mark. Going to need a couple of portal guys in the spring to stabilize it. Lee and Guillory are serviceable, Mckinley and Shone are talented but inexperienced. Assuming Paris Shand and Savion Jones can slide inside some the quantity is not terrible but it does not inspire confidence.

Agree with you. We have like 10 cbs on the roster. 2 oh st kids, Alexander, sages I guess, 3 fr, stamps and Hughes. And ausberry I guess. Toviano if doesn't move to safety. I wish we would have added 1 of these uga, bama cbs to come and be a set starter.. but seems we're sticking with the kids we have.

If we can't find 4 dudes who can play in that set, they all need to go.

Dt we have no depth, and our starters are guillory and jalen Lee or shone washington, or true fr. Genuinely think we're screwed if we don't add 1-2 starters as the above mentions.

Why doesnt Kelly go out and get a couple of high quality starters at DT and CB already?

We need answers!

Disagree. These two positions are in drastically different shape. Our corners are going to be both good enough and plentiful enough to support a championship team. Our DTs are not.

Certainly a great corner would be a big improvement, but we don't need that to have a competitive group. Whereas at DT what we have is a good group of backups. If we had twice the number then I'd say it was similar to the corners, but we don't.

I know most of yall are rant posters and get wrapped up in star rankings.

PJ Woodland is going to be a special player. I would not be surprised to see him starting by mid-season.

13 CBs according to depth charts I've seen. Alexander, Stamps, J K Johnson, Prean, Woodland, Causey, Toviano, J Brown, S Ryan, Hughes, J Johnson, D McBride, and Foster.

I'll predict Guillory and Paris Shand are the DT starters.

I think we are much better off at corner than your average LSU fan.

Of the DLine cam get home to the QB a little more often, it will make a world of difference.

What I found so frustrating last season was that the dline often got the QB off their spot, but failed to close and allowed them to run around and ad lib with their receivers.

You could have Deion and Champ Bailey on the back end, but if they have to keep their receivers covered for 12-15+ seconds, theure gonna get burnt more often than not.

Maybe the staff try to move bodies around? Meaning deep O-line to DL or WR to CB?

Savion Jones couldn't even set the edge at end. Now yall think he is just going to move inside in the sec. Wtf

Numbers are good at CB. Coach these guys and I think we'll be fine here.
DT is another story. Need a surefire starter at minimum with a quality backup. I'd bet after the Spring portal we have at least 3 more DTs with 2 of them projected as starter quality. After looking at film for the season Davis and Baker will have a good idea what we have and will have plans to fix it accordingly.

I don't see where we have improved those positions at all. Very strange with all the studs in portal.

LSU has signed 3 3* CB and the biggest of them all weighs 170 lbs. Seriously, the Rant is not concerned about this after watching our db play last year. Seriously?

JK has ability. Tackling was his only issue at OSU. Now how does he bounce back from injury?

Matty B of On3 questioned the Brown take. He’s physical but small.

Alexander

I don’t see him playing in 2024. We never got full clarity on his injury. If he’s supposed to be out for a few months in 2024 then that means an ACL.

quote:

sages I guess

It’s going to be Sage and JK starting at corner in Vegas. It’s not great but it’s not terrible.

quote:

stamps

Either he played slow because he’s a freshman or he’s just not a great athlete. Really hoping it’s the former. For as much hype as he got in fall camp, I came away disappointed that he never got better in the games. He had two plays against Wisconsin (one for a TD and one a big completion on the final drive) where he just looked in athletic in trying to make a play.

Hughes

Honestly shocked he’s still here.

Would love to see Toviano at safety. Think his talents and Gilbert’s ability to play centerfield would be perfect compliments.

Gilbert, McBryde, Toviano, Kylin and Yaites is a talented group. Not necessarily thrilled Burns returned to limit one of the aforementioned playing time.
