Looks like he got a ton of hype after his pro day the other day; hitting 7 balls over 114 mph and a 119. Currently ranked as the ~141st prospect in the 2026 MLB draft.

What’re the chances that he’ll make it to campus?

Every single baseball podcast I’ve listened to and article I’ve read said you can go ahead and count on him NOT getting to campus.

Low before he went to combine. 0.01% following his batting performance.

Would have to fell pretty far from his projection to have any type of chance. Just as a reference, the 141st pick slot value is around 520k.

Slim chances he makes it to campus, but one thing I think people forget about is that there will almost certainly be an MLB player lockout next season. Not sure how much that will factor with current HS players, but could be part of the decision.

520k is not worth skipping college for. He’d probably make close to that per season at LSU

He's ranked around the same place that Landon Hodge was in the same BA ranking last year (the second to last update). Landon Hodge got $1.1MM.

You can't just equate ordinal ranking with slot value.

that’s a lot of money, but the average age of an MLB is 25.

Is that a lot of money for the next 5-7 years?

Depends on what he would get from LSU for the next 3-4 compared to what the mlb offers. The issue is that if a team wants him bad enough to draft him in the top 5 rounds....they are going to be able to overpay to get him to sign.

Yeah for sure. When you talk to guys who make it to campus usually they will mention that Jay preaches to have a number and stick to it and if they won’t pay it come to school

But if you’re 18 and you don’t make the majors till you’re 24 that’s 6 years. A 500k bonus is not an insane lifestyle over that stretch

Santarelli is from the north where college baseball is an afterthought. He regularly talks about his dream is to play in MLB. Seems like he is going to sign and get his pro career going.

We’ve landed a ton of guys with 500k+ offers over the years. We’ve landed several with over $1m overs. I’d even say it’s more uncommon for us to lose someone for $500k then land them.

It all depends on the individual and how much they value the LSU experience. No clue how this guy values that, so it’s kind of irrelevant, but signing guys who are right outside of top 100 draft rankings is usually the sweet spot.

This guy likely will get paid like a top 100 prospect if he isnt drafted in the top 100, and he still might be
