Do you believe in BK being “aggressive” in the portal?

I’ll believe it when I see them on campus personally. I haven’t kept up with that DT from Oklahoma we were outbid for but thankfully we get to see him play this weekend.
I hope it hit a nerve hearing the fans chatter at the game.
This is his last chance at a title. Surely he’s feeling the heat after Bryce, but I can’t blame that on him. However, those funds for Bryce should now be allocated to locking up high school kids and the portal.

Jay Johnson, who Im sure you fawn over, said this very thing at his press conference. Every year is different and you learn something new in this day an age of the transfer portal. BK is here to win a championship at LSU. Hes accomplished everything else. He is 100 percent not just saying shite.

Listening to him speak today, Kelly suggested that the locker room wasn’t where it needed to be from a team/player leadership perspective last year to bring in star portal players. He said this year he’s comfortable with the development within the team and that portal players will not disrupt the team chemistry. Still believes recruiting is the main path but we have young players and can bring in veteran plays to bridge while they develop.
Given FSUs collapse this year and the struggles at A&M and Ole Miss with all the money being tossed around, there is something to be said for that. Players need to have some control of their locker room.

Yes. It’s the last lever he can pull.
First one was taking $100mm and hoping to rest on his laurels
Second one was getting a blank check to clean house on the assistants.
Third one was stepping up money for high school recruits
This one is ratcheting up the portal to fill key holes and compete every year rather than waiting on HS development.

frickin listen he says it right there. They didn't want to spend last spring because they were planning on spending big this fall. Losing Underwood brings back a hefty chunk of NIL money back to the pot. That, plus seeing the lack of results on the field has slapped Kelly in the face that he needs to make big portal moves. I actually feel better about the state of the program after today.

Yes. Too much parity in NCAA now. You have to build through the portal and HS recruiting if you want to even sniff championships now. You can't have one of the other unless you get ungodly lucky somehow. Regardless, you need development from HS players for depth and you need key transfer portal players to fill major gaps in your team that are proven players.

I think they will be aggressive and selective. We don't need quantity, but good quality. IMO, we need at least one starter from the portal at:
Safety, WR, DT, and IOL. We don't really need depth, so we should be able to focus on getting fewer, high end players.

I do too, I believe the HEAT is on, CBK he’s a smart man, he bought himself some time the 1st year w/ the SEC west crown. I think he stuck his chest out a little early but he didn’t quite understand the pressure of the SEC. JD5 brought him some more time, he won 10again and a Heisman winner. He said sht they still on my arse and then the losing streak hit, the flip of a generational recruit leaves which was what little leverage he had left. Now the Fit done hit the Shan - he better or he won’t enjoy his short time in BR that he’s got left. Show dem boyz the money!

I will give him a chance because we don’t have a choice . I sure hope that the BOD has learned their lesson approving 10 year contracts. I know that Woodward hasn’t . That guy is as loose with money as anyone I have ever seen. I personally don’t trust anything that Kelly says . He is fake over and over time and time again. From the fake accent for his FAMUHHLEEE to the faux rage banging on the table . The guy is a fraud but here we are stuck with his arse.
