They already have Akili Smith from California committed for 2025. Maybe just Moore trying to get LSU to spend more…

he’s the #1 player in the country I’m sure more than Oregon made NIL offers to him

Are 17-year-old kids this business savvy this early in their life or is it actually someone else with an agent mentality behind the scenes?

Yea me too. There’s absolutely zero illusion that it’s anything but pro sports now and I’m rapidly losing interest in it. I guess the mosconas of the world are happy but this is gonna kill the interest for many people

I promise I will not watch football anymore if this happens. It’ll be ruined. I will become a baseball only guy.

I would assume multiple schools will try and flip him. Not even sure why it has to be said

I hate where college football is right now, but from LSU's perspective, you must match whatever they come up with. I don't care how you do it. They cannot let Underwood be plucked.

The qb situation going into 2025 is shite (I believe Nuss goes pro).

Most of the high recruits have a professional (in some capacity) agent that communicates with the collectives. Of course, the player gets the ultimate say.

The difference is that Oregon is doing more than just offering NIL packages to the players. They are also offering massive amounts of money to the kid’s family (including grandparents and cousins) too. So the decision comes down to committing to them and creating generational wealth for your entire family or going somewhere else and only getting it for yourself. The family pressure becomes immense.

Don't have to be that savvy tbh. Go on 1 trip, they say 150k, the next says 200k. Coaches and staff are communicating constantly with kids, so common sense to say school b offered me 200k, can you beat it.

They definitely have people advising them in most cases. But sadly 17 yr Olds have all the power. And then each portal year they have it again if they want it.

Balance of the right type of kid + talent haa to be tough to assess and manage constantly. Why the hc to oc or DC jumps will continue to happen. Coaches want to coach and be successful at the sport... texting 17 yr Olds asking how much your gonna give them would get old.

I assumed this was happening everywhere but if Oregon is only school offering multi millions to the he kid they want and millions to his family and jobs etc…

I kinda think it’s a mistake on his part to not take the offer unless lsu can match or at least come close.

That is a valid concern. Hopefully, LSU can pitch him on being the first pick in the draft in three years and taking care of the family then. I believe Underwood will be a day 1 starter and LSU should approach 2025 with that plan in mind.

It's not that Oregon would turn away BU, but they do already have a 2025 commit and Dante Moore (the #3 player in the country from the 2023 class) on the roster.

Good thing Underwood has repeatedly said NIL is the last thing on his mind when it comes to his recruitment

he's also a 17 year old kid and would have the potential to put himself and his family on the road to generational wealth at an earlier age. to think he wouldn't consider a massive bag offer from oregon is silly.

I'm sorry, but anyone who believes there's anything at all here is either (a) the most gullible person ever, or (b) doesn't know what they're talking about.

For one, dandydon says he heard this "from a trusted reader". Give me a break lol. From people who actually cover and report on recruiting, there hasn't been the slightest whiff of anything suggesting that Bryce is anything other than 100% locked in.

For two, he's not taking any other visits. He's not even talking to any other schools. He is always decked out in full LSU gear and talking up LSU. There are even reports from this week that Bryce's family has been heavily involved in the Derek Meadows recruitment.

And for three, Oregon already has a high-end QB commit from a literal legacy kid, Akili Smith Jr. If they were gonna recruit over top of him, they would've been doing it from the jump - but up to this point, they have given every indication of being fully satisfied with him as their 2025 QB. Akili Smith is probably the greatest QB in oregon history - they're not gonna jerk his son around.

I was told by this board that Underwood isn’t coming here for NIL, he just really wants to play for LSU.
