Could be leveraging LSU with the judo thing.

We need lefties.

But if we overpay the guy will hurt chemistry of team.

I can’t tell if you’re joking honk, but I’ll drop this for reference

Mac Marshall signed with the San Francisco Giants for a $750,000 signing bonus after being selected in the 4th round (126th overall) of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Chipola Junior College.

Yeah he went from a 21st round pick to the 4th in one season at Chipola.

Schmidt was a consensus top 20 pick. He slipped for whatever reason but you have a lefty with his frame sitting mid 90s with 2 other pitches... yea i could see it. Hope I'm wrong

Is Osbolt at all related to this with us losing him to NC? Feels like that's very specific timing unless that was already in the works.

The format of the draft now doesn’t really make these comparable.

Marshall to juco wasn’t as much about stock improvement as it was eligibility to re-enter after a year.

Schmidt isn’t going to parlay some big pay day after 1 year unless stuff ticks up into the highest echelon of stuff.

He was a weird situation though. The astros were going to pay him his number but when one of their other picks failed a physical and didn’t sign, they lost some of their bonus pool money. He ended up taking half of that amount a year later after going to a juco.

Schmidt Is turning down 2 million now and the chances of him getting offered more than that after a year in juco is very slim. If juco is a realistic option for him then he is making a mistake and not signing now.

If juco is the route he is considering I can’t imagine it’s a California juco. They don’t allow athletic scholarships and I don’t think a kid like that is gonna pass up 1.7 from Cleveland and turn down a full ride and some nice sweat pants money to LSU just to pay his own way to play average juco baseball near his house
