Did not see this coming, and Texas may not allow it if investigated. He is leaving Flower Mound Marcus for Denton Ryan. However, Texas doesn't allow players to move from one school to another because they want to. It has to be a family reason for work, and with his Dad now the OC at the Saints, that's going to be difficult to quantify. But these things usually get worked out.

It’s not going to be shot down. His coach signed off on it. He was wanting to transfer to another 6A school close by but his coach pitched a fit since it’s a same class competitor (even though Marcus is going to suck next year). So, Denton Ryan bc they’re 5A was ok.

I sit on committees with UIL and the folks in charge get passed off when the previous coach signs off when he knows damn well this move was for athletic purposes. The former coach must not want to deal with him anymore

Lane offered him at OM but has cooled since he arrived at LSU. He wants to play in the SEC. I'd put my money on Arkansas or Kentucky.

He's alot more athletic than his brother. He could end up being a really good qb.

All you have to do is move into a home in the attendance zone of the new school. For a family of means, it’s not really a hard thing to do.

I have been told that the team is in disarray. I don't believe it's a Colton problem.

Not really that simple. He's got an NFL coach dad, was in a demographics area of $185k avg household income and average home prices of $673,000, 72% white, 3% Hispanic to a school district where the average household income is $63,000 and 70% of the students are primarily Hispanic and 60% are from economically disadvantaged homes where the average house cost $305,000.

Hard to coin this as a lateral move.

Might be poor timing to be testing UIL on this. Grapevine are the defending back-to-back state champions (baseball) & UIL just ruled them ineligible for playoffs. Someone here may have more details, but from what I read it's due to kids transferring in for athletic reasons (read: recruited) but veiled as otherwise.

There was an issue within the Marcus football program that got most of the starting OL kicked off the team late last fall. The OC and DC left after the season. Like someone else said the program is in disarray. So not really an issue or reflection on Colton.

I’ve seen him in person and he will pull the ball down and take off. Tore up his knee mid season last year but sounds like he’s good for this fall. Pretty sure we offered him before his injury.

Texas has some high schools with weird arse names

There are thousands of schools and hundreds of cities, towns, and school districts with multiple high schools. The media and the HS governing body UIL began referring to schools with their city name or school district name first before the actual school name example
Carter HS in Dallas - Dallas Carter
Permian HS in Odessa- Odessa Permian.
John Tyler HS in Tyler - Tyler John Tyler

There are multiple Memorials, Libertys (many of them formerly Robert E Lee), Lamars, Roosevelts and so on, so this was necessary to distinguish schools. Much like in Louisiana you have Catholic BR, Catholic of New Iberia, Point Coupee, etc.

Unless of course the high school bears the name of the city ie Abilene High, Frisco HS, Garland HS, Katy HS, Longview HS etc
