So explain how the teams who are consistently pulling in top classes are the teams that consistently win all the games?

Every time someone wants to try making this dumb point about recruiting services, y’all just completely ignore the facts. The best teams got to the top and stay at the top by getting highest ranked recruits and classes.

This is about a single recruit, not a class. So your argument doesn't hold up.

Here is a list of 5 star busts (2012-2019):
Gunner Kiel
Max Browne
Blake Barnett
Hunter Johnson
Tate Martell
Spencer Ratter
Bo Nix

Here's a list of recruiting services misses over the same period (3 star or lower):

Josh Allen
Baker Mayfield
Patrick Mahomes
Lamar Jackson
Daniel Jones
Justin Herbert
Jordan Love
Malik Willis
Desmond Ridder
Mac Jones
Kenny Pickett
Will Levis
Sam Hartman
Brock Purdy
Zach Wilson
Trey Lance
Kedon Slovis
Dillon Gabriel

They SUCK at QB rating. Absolutely suck at it. And Manning is where he is because his name attracts subscribers and clicks.

No it’s not. Not the comment I was quoting.

To me all they did new(at least more transparently) is plainly show an example how big a con that business truly is and they've hooked millions of fans into selling out to what the rankings say. They hooked millions of fans into selling out to what the rankings say. None of those guys are experts at evaluating these kids. This thread may be about Arch, but the person I was responding to was trying to make a point about recruiting services, and they were wrong.

They basically rank kids off of offers, it’s not really rocket science.

Recruiting sites do almost zero leg work. It’s why you look at 2024 rankings and they have like 10 kids from the state. As offer info becomes more public they will add more

The dude would be a 2 star recruit if he wasn't Manning. Texas is going to regret this bigly

Seriously. What I wouldn't give to have a ban on Arch Manning and Tackett Curtis threads. If they're committed somewhere else, we are not in their final X, and we are not seriously in contention for flipping them, they should not be here. Period.

As much as I enjoy watching ND's class implode, the same goes for the inevitable Peyton Bowen thread when he pulls the trigger on the flip. We're not in the mix, so it shouldn't be in LSU recruiting. End of story.

He is an unsigned recruit, genius.
And this is the recruiting board.

Need more info?

Fify

And since he isn't an lsu unsigned recruit or target, that's why there's no reason for you and others to create multiple threads about his performance. Not sure why you are so obsessed with him.

Actually Newman lost as a team. But yeah seems like he has had some bad performances when Newman plays a team with a pulse. Hope the best for kid but it won’t be here. Wont start at Texas as long as the kid that’s there now stays.

What is amazing about that story is the lack of information about the game. No score. No QB stats. At least give us a score. Give a little bit of an effort. That article was like a random tRant post and someone is actually getting paid to publish that crap.

Then don't respond on the threads and they will disappear faster.

Well this is a little disingenuous. There are 25-30 5-stars and ~2000 3-stars every year. Every year there are going to be a lot of 3-star overachievers because there are exponentially more 3-stars period.

The apples-to-apples comparison is 3-star success rate overall to 5-star success rate, and obviously, 5-stars have a higher success rate overall. Do you think LSU should go for 3-star QBs since so many more of them have overachieved? No, right?

QB is difficult to project period, even for coaches. With Arch, I think people are more banking on the advantages (pedigree, financial resources) compounding and adding up over the next 24 months or so. I think most people can see he doesn't look like a bonafide 5-star guy right now.

In my opinion, I think pedigree should figure into a guy's ranking, because I'd surmise second and third-generation athletes succeed at a higher rate than those who have no pedigree.

If LSU had picked the guy we'd be all for Arch and defending him, I've been around long enough to know that much.

Agreed. Play top notch teams and let’s see how he does. Newman playing little league schools. Play the big boys.
