re: Apparently Arik Gilbert's decision to leave LSU had nothing to do with homesickness

We don’t even know if he was suspend period, much less the number of games.

That's got to be a factor in what the coaches, and especially the rest of the team, think about it. It's one thing to quit for Covid, NFL, or suspension. Add to it the layer of mid-season (like Divinity).
But then you enter the teleportal with a goal of transferring inter-conference. If I were a teammate, or coach, that 1 added layer would likely change my stance on it.
ETA: no matter what you think of weed, looking at the "strategic landscape" being stringent on weed use AND the transfer portal coming into first existence and now prominence the two don't mix. We, the school, can only control one of those two things. It's harming us them existing simultaneously. I'm speaking generally, just kind of ranting, because no- we don't even know if Gilbert was "weedspended". But in general, this is going to become more and more of a problem in the future losing players and wasting spots in recruiting classes. The cost is too damn high to the program.

Divinity was a senior with no more eligibility. He quit in mid season after getting a supposed weed suspension, but then came back.

Just earlier in the thread you said if he stayed in school he would've missed the required games.
I was being sarcastic by saying how many games.
You are speaking out of both sides of your mouth

I’m not sure what you are talking about.

Can't LSU limit his ability to go anywhere he wants in Conference.

Not in this Covid season

We shouldn’t be suspending players for weed period. Regardless of how anyone on this board feels about it, the reality is the practice is not pragmatic in the current landscape of football. LSU is putting themselves at a disadvantage unnecessarily by doing so.

SEC is still going to have to approve intra-conference transferring
We’ll see what happens

No. The portal did away with the ability teams had to not give kids releases to certain schools. The only thing in question now is immediate eligibility.
