Anyone have actual numbers on how much NIL Ole Miss is handing out?

It has got to be a massive amount. That’s the only explanation for kids committing left and right to that shite stain of a football program.

Hopefully we LSU donors can band together and contribute a similar amount of money. It’s a damn shame that college athletics has turned into this.

Ole Miss can only build out of the portal because they can’t recruit high schoolers. Their success in the portal looks splashy and cool but:

1.) It is no way to build a program for long-term success and,

2.) There’s only so much juice you can squeeze out of Joe Everyman before they get sick of seeing you with your hand out, especially if you don’t win

NIL numbers aren’t public record.

This is probably their only chance at making it into the playoffs for a long time (maybe even ever). A lot of their donors are going even further in debt than they already are.

Why do people keep implying we are so far behind in NIL every time we don't get a particular target? Right now, we have the #1 QB, WR, and RB in the 2025 class. Those guys aren't free just because they didn't come from the portal.

Where do the ole miss classes typically rank in recruiting annually? Kelly has said that he wants to build the program through HS recruiting and not the portal. It seems evident based on our HS recruits that's where the majority of NIL is being funneled atm.

I doubt this last for Ole Miss. I think they're just going all in this year because of what they accomplished last year. Same goes for the players commiting to them. They're getting paid well no doubt and have a chance to go play for a potentially good team.

I also don't think this is a recipe for success, at least not long term. Building teams out of the portal isn't ideal for sustaining a winning program.

I think BK is heading towards doing it the right way. Recruit well out of HS, supplement through the portal. I think that sets a program up for much more sustainable success. Probably would have been BK's choice from the beginning, but with the roster he took over, he had to go a little heavy with the transfer portal.

No one knows any numbers except for what is made public, which is very little. Even the made public numbers are likely exaggersted. Don't expect any of this to change anytime soon with the way the NCAA is trying to retroactively account for their ineptness. If they dig enough we'd all be in trouble.

I think Lane is shooting his wad this year with the expectation of being in Gainesville next year. He's just showing Napier up to show the Flarda money guys he can get a roster together. When I read that article where some Flarda alumni and Spurrier himself mentioned there was no excitement around the program, all I could think is yeah if they want some excitement, (at least on Twitter) Joey Freshwater is their guy.

Because they are the “instant gratification” crowd that doesn’t have a clue what’s actually going on here. Ole Miss is building for one year, one and done just to say “we won something”. BK and LSU is building for multiple championships over the next few years.

I have been thinking about this as well. The kind of money we are spending on Underwood and Moore specifically. Anybody have any insight?

The Portal is basically the modern version of the Juco system. It’s not a way to build a roster long term. We learned that last year with some huge busts. I like our current approach of recruiting HS athletes.

They aren’t and didn’t spend anything on high school kids. They poured almost all of the Real Tree money into Nolen and the Gator DE. Dart is probably making middle range NIL money for SEC QBs. They didn’t meet Judkin’sprice.so he split for Ohio State. I don’t see the Rebs pouring Jimbo-type money into NIL?
With the Amos kid, LSU hasn’t even commitably offered and the big dogs in NIL haven’t entered the bidding.
