Ole Miss can only build out of the portal because they can’t recruit high schoolers. Their success in the portal looks splashy and cool but:

1.) It is no way to build a program for long-term success and,

2.) There’s only so much juice you can squeeze out of Joe Everyman before they get sick of seeing you with your hand out, especially if you don’t win

3. After one or two losses, that team will quit trying and jump back in the portal for more $$$. Kiffin has one year to win it all and everyone knows it. Beating them will be epic.

Ole miss is hoping to get to FSU level, MINUS having the recruiting bed that FSU lives in.

Norvell built a 13-0 team out of mostly transfers. It took him 3 years to turn a trash program into a 10 win team. Then he took that 10 win team, added a few more elite transfers, and made a 13-0 team.

What some people don't get is that UGA could have won the national championship too if they just got by Bama. That has been Kirby Smart's one problem. Guy beat Saban once. FSU with a loaded roster (that includes QB Travis), would have went to the national championship game. It would have been #1 Michigan, #2 Washington, #3 FSU, #4 Texas.

FSU's starters, 4/5 OL, TE, 2/3 WR, QB, and RB were transfers. So 9 of 11 on offense were transfers. Defensively 6 of their starters were transfers with 5 of them in the front 7. After losing almost every single one of these players (I think they have an OL or two still on roster), they are bringing in 15 transfers. Five are from Bama, 1 from LSU, and 1 from UGA. They also bring DJ Uiagalelei back to the ACC and two DL who started for Oregon St and West Virginia. Looking at the players they got, it's easy to say they have reloaded, and are ready for another run. It obviously won't be that easy, but at worst, I say they go 10-2.

This is what Ole Miss is trying to get to, but you can't expect a Nick Saban level of talent team to be able to poach from every year. Also, FSU is starting to pull in better high school classes (will finish 12th), but lost two 5 stars in December that would have had them 5th in recruiting.
