As of todays not updated recruiting list we have 9 3* prospects but we’ll call it eight because of the kicker. I’ll wager that these eight of 25 pledges we could drop off and do better with eight transfers. At least they would have experience and could be immediate depth. We especially need help on the DL. If you dropped off eight three stars the average would go up. This is not an elite recruiting year.

LSU should hire you to run their scouting department.
They are forced to hammer the portal for DL but I’m all for them taking LA kids and trying to develop them to build roster depth. I can promise you a few of these 8 kids you want to drop will turn out to be great tigers.

LSU is not recruiting abnormally better or worse then they have the last 20 years.

Exactly. There are two recruiting seasons. High school and the portal. It’s a down year for in state. Supplement with the portal. There will be proven players available. I wouldn’t be surprised if there weren’t already back channel conversations going on.
Dabo is getting hammered because he refuses to use the portal. Florida St has built a national championship contender off the portal. It’s part of modern recruiting

Like last year and the year before, Kelly will have to make up for his misses in the portal. The portal is the great equalizer but its risky because you can't guarantee there will be quality players at your positions of need.

If the Tigers beat BAMA this year they will win the past five year span. LSU also leads Georgia 2-1 in most recent meetings.

Top 10 is not elite. Elite classes are in that top 3 range. Elite is the very best of the best

Very true I would say sometimes the 4 and five class is elite just depends what positions the recruits are at and if they pan out to be beasts.
What I don’t get though is most people downplaying perhaps not even signing a top ten class. If you follow recruiting just sparingly you’re still a little disappointed if you root for LSU.
Sure we could get it back next year but we are gonna have a lapse on the d line in depth unless they fill it with the portal which I’m sure they will but then they’re not gonna have those program building recruits there. If we aren’t throwing stupid money at every big time defensive line recruit next year…

Correct, we have 24 recruits. There are several schools just below LSU with only 18 commits. LSU is even below Tennessee. This class will be lucky to be in the top 15. It is what it is.

This isn't going to change much. The NIL is what matters most. Those kids want the $$$, and you can't fault them for wanting it.

We live in one of the poorest states in the Country. What did you think was going to happen when college became about paying players? Would you turn down tons of money to stay in state? You can’t out recruit money.

He has had #7 and #5 classes in his first two years. "Less than impressive"
Last year we got the #2 player in the state because arch was never coming here so that wasn't realistic. Also got Womack who was the #1 player in MD.
2022 we got Perkins who was #1 player in Texas and 2 of the top 3 in Louisiana with the one we missed, Anderson, transferring here this year.
Right now we have 8 of the top 10 in Louisiana. Not gonna say McKinley doesn't sting but damn some of you are acting like every talented player in Louisiana is leaving for other schools.
Outside of interior d line, what areas do you feel Kelly hasn't brought in high level players? You're not gonna recruit a 5* at every position so I am curious to hear where you think Kelly has severely missed the mark recruiting outside of the interior d line.
