Shea’s Mock Class 2.0 (February 25, 2021) (26 players)

QB: Walker Howard

RB: Le'veon Moss, TreVonte' Citizen

WR: Decoldest Crawford, Aaron Anderson, AJ Johnson, Shazz Preston

TE: Jake Johnson

OL: Will Campbell, Bo Bordelon, Emery Jones, Lucas Taylor, Jacob Hood

DL: J'mond Tapp Shone Washington, J'mari Monette, Quency Wiggins, Jaheim Oatis

DB: JaDarian Rhym, Laterrance Welch, Marcus Scott, D'Arco Perkins-McAllister, Jordan Allen

LB: Jacoby Mathews, Javae Gilmore

ATH: Kendrick Law

Interesting notes: No Shemar Stewart who LSU was in the lead early on but seems to be drifting. Shone Washington coming back into the class. Oatis from the Sip making it in. Glad to see Shea believes in the end Jacoby makes it in. And Jacob Hood is a massive human.

and much respect to D'Arco Perkins-McAllister

All name team

6’4” 349 - does this make sense in our defense, or do we still not know what our new scheme will be at this point?

WOW a Domani Jackson prediction is BOLD. I knew we were in on him but i didn't realize that we still had a legitimate chance at him (let alone enough chance to project him to LSU)

edit: i'm an idiot lol i was looking at his first prediction :'(

I love the class and a lot can change between now and then but that group doesn't currently project as a top 2 class. Based on class calculator, it would've ranked 3rd last year (well behind both bama and OSU) and 5th in 2020.

Edit: my god i just looked at Shea's first projection and that would've rivaled bama's 2021 class.

That’s kind of a pessimistic view of this class.

I’m assuming with a great season, LSU will be able to recruit a couple more top 100 guys that aren’t on this list.

Interesting and glad Shea listed J’Mari Monette. He is a 3 star sleeper. Sound to sleep. Dandy Don just listed him with in the last 2 weeks in his list of top 125 Louisiana football players. He plays DT for ASH and had a breakout year. He recently received offers from Baylor and Miss. State among others. He has not received an offer from LSU yet! Figured it will just be a matter of time.

I’d be disappointed to not get him or Nolen.. It’s probably likely though.

If we are going to utilize Guillory at 6'2 331 then why not Oatis?

to be fair, I think guillory was recruited while aranda was still DC.

He’s was going to play in the 3-4 but he was a definite Ng in the aranda defense.

He can still play in the4-3. Don’t get me wrong.

they wouldn't be recruiting him if they didn't see him somewhere.

It gives the DC and DL Coach something to play with.

Even if we run a 4-2-5 the majority of the time, at some points we will probably utilize a 3-3-5 or 3-2-6 in situations where run is in play (draws aren't uncommon in 3rd and 15 or so). Big boy in the middle will be useful.

In all likelihood he'll slim down with a college level eating and training program. He could also be an athletic freak and play well at 350

Dexter Lawrence was a first rounder at Clemson in a 4 man front primarily. He was 6’4 342 at the combine. Oatis may need to drop a few pounds to be most effective but he moves well for his size. No reason he can’t play.

Take a look at his Twitter and you’ll see he isn’t just fat or anything. Built pretty well overall.

17 of the top 19 recruits from LA. SHEESH! I think we better take a better look at DT Maxie Baudoin. The amount and caliber of his offers speak for themselves. I think he ends up as a top 250 recruit.
