Are there any problems with spraying MSM and then a few days later putting down pre-emergent or vice versa?

Any problems spreading dimension when the yard is wet? I don’t know if it will dry up in the next few days. I didn’t see anything on the label about it.

No as it is a granular Pre-Emergent Herbicide that must be watered into the soil/root zone anyway where weed seeds germinate. As long as the wet lawn doesn’t interfere in anyway with your distribution of the herbicide as you push your rotary spreader through the lawn, I don’t see an issue.

Now I would not spray a Post-Emergent Herbicide on a wet lawn (grass blades are wet) - I’d want the blades to be dry.

Put out some fertilome granular with prodiamine today because of the cool weather and rain in the forecast. First time using a pre-emergent.

Applied 50lbs of LESCO 0-0-7 .43% Stonewall (Prodiamine) to my front lawn (~9600 sq.ft., centipede) this morning. Cost ~$23 after tax from SiteOne.

I just ordered a 2.5 gallon bottle of "Princep" (Simazine) from Do It Yourself Pest Control Products & Supplies. Free Shipping and 10% off with code FALL10. Total came out to $68.96. Thats the best price I could find. Will be using this one my back lawn this year for the fall pre-em application.

We've been in the 70s for almost a week here in Nashville, getting close for me.

I've got Bermuda here in Nashville, should I think about one more round of 10-10-10 or 13-13-13 before pre emergant or just go with pre emerge now?

I'm already starting to lose some of the rich green from a month ago.

Are there any benefits or issues with adding MSM to the Cleggs winter cocktail?

By and large those herbicides target the same weeds, so not sure of any benefit, and I’d be more concerned of overdosing desirable lawn grass, but I truly don’t know, perhaps someone else can weigh in. Certainly combining 2 herbicides is often very beneficial just don’t if those 2 should be.

That makes sense. If I already have MSM should I just use that instead of winter cocktail? I put down Lesco Pre-M yesterday.

I have always used the winter combo in the past but bought MSM this year and am trying to figure out how it fits into the rotation this time of year.

Sprayed weed free zone and atrazine last week. Doveweed is my biggest issue. Winning the VBW war currently but neighbors yards have plenty to go around. Put down spectracide pre emerg yesterday afternoon. Raining now. Got lucky.

Well of course you can can use MSM in the heat of the summer with little to no harmful effect on the lawn whereas the winter weed cocktail would damage the lawn. Now, (this week) is cool enough to use either. Personally, I’d use the MSM now, and later as it gets colder and you need to deal with both grass weeds (think Poa, annual bluegrass) and winter broadleaf weeds I’d use the combo.

First time posting. Enjoy reading all the comments and suggestions.
Just had new centipede sod laid about 3/4 weeks ago in SELA. It seems to be doing good. Is it ok to do pre-emerg? Should I also fertilize or is it too late? Any other suggestions?

Thank you.

Yeah this will be my first year putting down any kind of treatment for my lawn. I was probably just going to do some Bayer 3-in-1. Am I about to burn my grass up?

I'm still at 79f, five day average. I'm gonna give it another week or two. Is that right? Mix of St. Aug & Zoysia.

You can. It really won’t hurt to put it now, the life of the chemical just will last a little less during the time where the winter veg will be germinating. If you are worried, up the dose just slightly. I put out half the yearly rate now (octoberish) and half in February’ish.
