I'm gonna go against the grain and say that we have an LG fridge, LG front load washer and dryer, and not one of them has given us a problem. Maybe we're lucky but we also take care of our appliances and that goes a long way too.

Against everyone's recommendations, but my Samsung is 12 years old, and still working like a champ.
From what I understand the older Samsung's like you have are great but the newer ones are not.

This isn't realistic because of price but Jenn Air makes high end home items.

Mine could break tomorrow after only 6 months of use and I would consider the best two grand I've ever spent

I cannot describe how much better it cleans then the traditional washers that I've had before.

Trying not to derail the thread but same here. Went on vacation and VRBO had the stacked LG washer/dryer combo unit and everything was so quiet, fast and great cleaning that I ended up buying a new front load washer & dryer (not stacked) for my own house 3 weeks later.

They are absolutely fantastic. So quiet, cleans great and super gentle on clothes. I'm loving having a gas dryer for the first time too.

All fridges are POS these days. They simply don't make them like the used to (not sentimentalism, just a fact). There's several reasons for this which I wont go into.

You can only hope to get 5 years, on average, out of one. That's what they are designed for nowadays. If you look at warranties, most of them are only for one year (lol). Some brands offer 5 years on the compressor.

My last one lasted me 2 years. One before that lasted 4. When I was a kid my parents had one that lasted 30. Those days are gone.

I have had remarkable luck with home appliances. My dryer is like 25 years old. My washer 14. I have never had a problem with my frides or freezers and I am a sucker for the Kenmore stuff made from all over Gods creation.

To add to my earlier post: we have a GE Profile Refrigerator in our laundry room that we bought new in 1997. Never given us a single hiccup.

Also, we had an LG washer/dryer set. The washing machine was mostly fine but the dryer was a huge piece of crap. I replaced most everything in that machine at least once. The felt on the drum I replaced twice and it messed up a third time and that’s when I threw it all out and bought Speed Queen.

Happy since.

Our expensive, 9-year-old GE Profile refrigerator had 3 service visits for cooling failures.

On service call #4 the repair tech suggested that we cancel the appointment, discard that unreliable GE product and get a Whirlpool or Frigidaire.

When the lower-cost Whirlpool refrigerator arrived I was surprised that 1) its ice conveyor is steel, not plastic like the GE conveyors that I replaced twice after they cracked, 2) the usability of the ice and chilled water dispenser in the Whirlpool door is far better, with status indicators that are much easier to read, and 3) the stainless steel door surfaces don't feel like easily-dinged sheet metal suspended loosely over a frame like the GE.

No more GE appliances for us.

Parents got one a few years ago, it's a POS. Water line to the ice maker in the freezer started leaking into the refrigerator section, door gaskets have fallen apart as are bits and pieces of some of the drawers.

My 5 yr old Frigidaire is giving me problems. All of my water stopped suddenly. None to the icemarker or water on the door. $200 later, its the FILTER HOLDER. Filter is perfectly fine, but the Filter holder has some type of BS that only allows water to flow when its "secured". The plastic tabs wore down after changing the filter 10 times. Awesome.

Had an LG in our first house and it did well. We rebuilt several years ago and went all out on the appliances with Subzero and Wolf. We've had zero issues.

same here with Sub-Zero. 13 years . Crazy cost, but if some of these post about a five year life are accurate, better to hurt once

I have someone coming out to replace the compressor in my LG for the second time. Had it almost 8 years. Good news is they have a 10 year warranty on the compressor, but I'll still have to pay for the service call.

The fridge has been great other than that. It's the french door one with the freezer on the bottom. It has the water and ice in the door as well as ice maker in the freezer, so unless we're having a big party and need a ton of ice, we've never had an issue with not enough.

Update: I know you're all patiently waiting for this, but the tech came out and immediately said a new fridge is needed vs paying $600 for the service to replace the compressor. There's freon leaking from the aluminum tubing, which apparently is very common on any LG made prior to 2018 because they didn't coat the aluminum lines that run throughout the fridge, so over time, as moisture comes in contact with that, it rusts and leaks. He used a black light to show where it's leaking from the corners of the fridge and freezer. It's slow, and the fridge and freezer are still cold enough, but it could be months or days before it totally dies.

Not happy about having to buy a new fridge, but at least the guy was honest and saved us an extra $600.

I'm probably going to go with a Whirpool. They seem to consistently be rated as one of the most reliable and have multiple models that will fit where ours is now.
