Saw two in my azalea bushes. About 1 1/2 ft long.

Harmless right? He was not aggressive as I tried to get closer.

Great snake to catch. Not aggressive and if it does bite it doesn't hurt.

I think that one is actually a Ribbon.

Ribbon snake is correct. Non venomous

Usually have one just like it in my flower beds, haven’t seen it this year

Good boi. He'll help keep rodents and other nuisances from becoming problems.

We have ribbon snakes like these around. I assume they’re around all the time but keep themselves well hidden from us. Kids recognize it now and don’t get spooked when they happen to see it anymore.
The one that really gave me pause recently was one time sighting of diamondback water snake in the driveway. Looked like moccasin - rattlesnake type features. I ultimately felt ok when looking it over more closely. Outdoor board later ID’d it instantly and confirmed it was a good “no kill”

Yep. Caught one a few weeks ago and after he calmed down I let my 3 year old pet it.
Wife is pissed at me now because lil Tifway isn’t scared of snakes anymore has been looking for snakes in the woods by my house now.

Now you need to print out pictures of the BAD snakes for the little one.

Basically the labradors of the snake world. I had one chilling in a bush and watching me mow the grass the other day. Slowly stuck his head out like a ninja to see what was going on.

Water snakes are frustrating because they give a venomous look and are aggressive. They will attack whatever you put in front of them.
Garter/ ribbon and king snakes will haul arse.

Every time a ribbon snake picture is posted half of the posters say "garter" and half say "ribbon". Looking it up, the snake genus Thamnophsis has about 40 species in it commonly called "grater" or "ribbon" snake. All posters are right.
Growing up in W Tn, my garter snakes were drab animals with stripes. My ribbon snakes in BTR are pretty spectacular.

We have tons of these around our house. They are about the most docile snakes there are. I believe ribbons are a type of garter.
We've had a few get in our house. They usually won't even bite if you pick them up and won't hurt you if they do.
