I live in north Texas and we had strong thunderstorms come thru early this morning. One of our 30 foot Hackberry trees was uprooted. Does anyone know what is the going rate for complete tree removal including stump?

There are literally thousands of dead pine trees in my area due to the drought and resultant pine beetle infestation. In my area, we are paying about $2500 per tree to cut and haul it off.

Most of the guys here do not mess with the stump…so that would be another service that you would have to line up or you could rent a grinder and do it yourself.

If your tree has the whole root ball uprooted, you probably don’t need to grind, though. It may just be a matter of washing the dirt down and cut/haul the root ball too.

$2500 per tree WITHOUT stump removal? I'm in the wrong line of business.

A couple years ago my neighbor (we are in BR) paid some baws $1,000 per tree (each about 30' tall) where they would chop it up bit by pit and pull the stump with a bobcat. Messed up part of their yard but it wasn't in the best shape to begin with. He eventually put gravel over it and had a garden edge placed to make the yard look better.

Were they qualified to do it? Probably. Were they insured to do it? Probably not. One dude has his baby momma in the car hanging out during the two days they worked on the trees. You get what you pay for I supposed, but $2500 is highway robbery.

The tree is on the ground already? No stump removal?

If its on the ground and you have a local trash pick up that will remove trees you can find someone for $5oo to come cut it up. The most dangerous part is felling the tree. The hardest part is cleaning it up and disposing of the tree.

Otherwise yea its going to be $600-100 or more is my guess.

if the tree is already down and doesn't require a crane to remove, you could probably get someone to cut it up and haul it off for <$1k

they get expensive when a crane is involved though

they also might charge you more if a lot of trees are down in your area when demand is higher

No shite! A friend had a 25' ish tree cut down and stacked near Lake Livingston six or seven years ago, and I think they paid the guy in sausage and brisket.

we removed a dead water oak and that was ~1700 but was still standing

after the derecho people were paying about that to get uprooted trees removed but there was a lot of demand and tree guys were making their year

A 30ft tree isn't big at all, in regards to most trees. I mean a 30 ft long needle pine is nothing for sure. A 30ft water oak/ Laurel oak is also fairly small. I could fell that, buck it, and have it in a truck in like 2 hours tops by myself.

All trees are different, it really does not good to ask the internet as there are like 1000 factors most of which are "how much of a PITA is this".

The barrier to enter the tree business is low. No degree needed. Get your chainsaw out and start "highway" robbing people.

My uncle owned a tree service for 30 years. Was very happy to sell when he finally had enough stashed for a meager retirement. Constant labor and equipment problems. Constant. Insurances out the arse.

If tree is on the ground, it should not be expensive. The equipment and insurance for felling a tree that is standing is where the cost is.

in past five years, we've paid $3500 per pine tree without stump removal in Baton Rouge using Bofingers.

If it’s already on the ground buy yourself an echo Timberwolf, cut it in pieces and place on curb for bulk trash.

Well, unfortunately I have some more information for you. I had a reasonably large oak blow down in yesterday’s weather. It is in the back yard so we will have to take down a section of fence. This will also require the use of a bobcat to ferry the sections from the back to a dump trailer on the street. I was just quoted $1,100 to cut up and haul off.

Depends on size, type and location. do you want "haul off" and stump ground? Lots of variables.

Spend $1500 on a Stihl 500i and do it yourself.

How hard is it to cut a tree down yourself?
I have a big dead sycamore that basically has no more branches so it’s a straight tree trunk.
I’d want to drop it a certain way, but if all went wrong and it dropped the wrong direction, it wouldn’t damage anything.
