Seeing a ton of it already. Anyone else seeing it pop up? Already treated with MSM turf so should see it dying off. Just curious if it’s trouble for anyone else this year so far.

Yeah it's popping up like crazy. The water from the front of my neighborhood drains across the front part of my yard. There isn't anybody else in who treats their yard so I end up with a ton of it every year from the water carrying it. I try to catch it early with Celsius but I have to keep spot treating it all year. I have a lot of doveweed popping up as well.

Yep, seeing a ton already in my yard. I think I'm just going to do a broadcast spray of my entire yard once a month for the rest of the year. Maybe then I'll see a difference.

I saw my first sprig yesterday. Lack of appreciable rain in last 2 months has to have helped delay it. right now, my main problems are Virginia creeper and Japanese honeysuckle.

Yep. Got Celsius on the way. Need to cut the grass badly but I’ll just wait until a couple days after I spray at this point. Tricky because I want to fertilize now too but don’t want to stress the yard even more.

I believe Celsius covers a wider range of broadleafs. But both with work on VBW.

I get this same damn effect from my jerk neighbor not giving a shite his weeds flow into my yard every time it rains. Hey Coach!

May require a second application on VBW.

MSM can’t usually be applied when temps are over 90°, though. I made that mistake two year ago and burned nearly my entire front yard.

I can report it’s early with a vengeance in New Roads, LA.

I did an experiment last summer. Since both Celsius and MSM stunt my turf so bad and take forever to recover, I tried spraying Weed Free Zone but later in the evening when the temps drop for the night. It was very successful. WFZ stunted my turf also, but nowhere near as bad and nowhere near as long. From what I've read the temp restrictions for these herbicides are for the time of application. So, applying later in the evening as long as overnight temps weren't above 85 seemed to work just fine.

I've noticed that MSM always requires a second application but Celsius only requires a second app if the VBW is mature. If you mix it at 0.113 oz/gallon and spot treat it early it'll knock it out with one hit.

I find that Celsius dings my turf pretty good in the summertime, too. I also find MSM to be a little more effective. I think this year I may try using MSM through the summer, just keeping my spraying to late in the evening.

That's odd, I've never had issues with Celsius stunting my turf grass. I have mostly St. Augustine but a good bit of Centipede mixed in as well.

MSM kills 70% of it. Celcius takes 2 applications to kill it all.

Yea MSM is great at killing buttonweed but like I and others have said, it's sooo easy to overmix it and kill the grass too. At least in my experience, anyway. I just can't seem to get the ratio right.

Yep, I’ve noticed a good amount of VB this early in the season. It’s never been this bad this early. That VB is a beast, and coming with some vengeance. Celsius is on its way though.

Yea, I was jus mentioning to a fellow lawn nut a few days ago that the buttonweed is back with a vengeance and much earlier than normal right now.

It’s popping up in the fairways at Pelican Point right now too. If they can’t get it under control with all their resources, I feel better about losing my own battle to it right now.

Scientific studies have been done that Celsius is what you use. Made by Bayer. Germans you know.
