I asked my wife what she wanted for Christmas and she gave me a few ideas. One was a treadmill and I think that’s what she really wants. My only hesitation is that we’ve had a rower and an elliptical and she never used them. Not to mention we live on a lot of land that she could walk outside if she really wanted to do it. When I told her that she says yeah but I can’t watch TV while I walk or the weather might mess up my outside walk. How do you guys reason with someone like that? I will probably breakdown and buy another coat rack so what are some decent recommendations that won’t break the bank since they’ll likely end up on FB Marketplace?

Save yourself the time and money, and just buy her a rolling clothes rack...

We’re past that stage. I’ve gotten her vacuum cleaners and pots and pans for Christmas in the past because that’s what she wanted. She has been fine with all of them.

How about buying a used one off of Craigslist or Facebook? I imagine that there are people who didn't use theirs trying to get rid of them at a cheaper price than used. Doesn't solve the wasted space issue, but let's you pay less for the inevitable clothes rack.

Well, if she doesn't use the rowing machine or elliptical, then it's pretty much a given she also won't use the treadmill either.

You don't reason with someone like that, you just don't cater to them and buy things on a whim.

Made that mistake. Buy a treadmill if you want one, but not for Christmas. The other hens will make her pissed about it , even if she isn’t. Words of caution.

Congrats on the most expensive clothes hanger you’ll ever buy.

Either buy her what she wants or stop asking what she wants, it's really that simple. Leave reason at the door.

Just walk her outside on Christmas morning and tell her to enjoy her endless treadmill.

You can’t win this!
She wants you to guess what she wants, and get it right cause there is one specific thing she wants you to get, and if you don’t get that thing, you’ll hear about it for months.
And she won’t tell you because then it’s “not the same”
“You should know me good enough to know exactly what I want”

I’ve got one in my guest bedroom that’s lightly used and would definitely sell you if you’re interested. It was my ex gfs and she left it when she moved to Dallas.

Post your email if you’re interested

She will not use that treadmill.

Last time I bought a treadmill and stopped using it after a short time, my husband decided to use it and did so five days a week for about five or six years until it (not he) finally died. He didn’t want it to go to waste, but boy was he glad when it bit the dust!

From Academy, about $600.
