Mr. Squirrel has set up residence in my outdoor shed.

It is going to be extremely difficult to secure this metal building to exclude access as there is a built in gap between the siding and roof all the way around the structure.

I live in a suburban area so a .22 and silencer is out of the question.

Are there any options that can be used to make the shed interior inhospitable to a squirrel? I have tried to scare him off and, I have to hand it to him, he is defensive of his home. He doesn't seem particularly scared of me and will stand his ground and stare at me when I go in the shed and make noise. Unless I hear of an idea here, I guess it may be pellet gun time.

I live near downtown Dallas and plunk squirrels with my 22 pellet gun. Just pay attention to whats behind the squirrel in case you miss.

I dusted off my old Benjamin yesterday and took out one that was eating my oak tree bark.

I think next time, I'll just get a no kill trap and relocate.

Might try plugging the gaps with steel wool.

Hardware cloth may be an option:

I don’t care about trapping them live, but those have a hearts are deadly for squirrels. Shoot them in the head in the trap once you catch them.

Put some peanut butter and squirrel food and set it where they frequent. They are great traps to use around kids and dogs for both squirrels and rats.

They sell them at ace hardware I’m not sure I’ve ever seen them in the big box stores.

Get the pellet gun out and set up a target near your shed. Spend some time practicing so Mr. Squirrel can see what you are up to. That may force him to relocate when he sees your pristine groupings!

I had a few squirrels in my attic one time. Got some fox urine from a local feed store. I cut some 1/2" pieces of PVC about an inch long, stuffed some cotton in the middle, then poured the fox urine over the cotton. Got up in the attic where they were getting in, and tossed the fox urine towards where the squirrel was. The squirrel immediately sprinted out of the attic. It scared him so bad that he ran down the brick of the house, and I went outside and he was standing on the brick shivering in fear. Didn't try to move for the amount of time I was there. I felt kinda bad for the squirrel so I put it out of his misery with the benjamin air rifle. I didn't want him living in that kind of fear.

Since you can't seal off the access, you might just keep a few places you can place cotton swabs soaked in fox urine around.

Can you trim branches or trees so it cannot access the shed?

There is a carport roof that runs right over to the shed. The little shite uses that roof to get to the roof of the shed and then inside. That's his vantage point when I run him out too. He will go sit up there and stare at me and chatter.

I am leaning heavily towards him catching a pellet in the face at this point. I am just worried about missing and sending that pellet out into the sky and into my neighbor's window.

Good luck. One summer I tried relocation from our front yard, to a park on the other side of a large river. After I took more than 60 squirrels across the river I gave up. It hadn't slowed them a bit.

Giant rat traps. Home depo sells them. Looks and works like a traditional mouse trap except much larger.
