Solar powered attic vent fan

Anyone seen or have one of these? Been seeing videos on them and a relative got one as well. Like many others our attic gets hot as frick and we currently have pretty standard soffit vents. Can’t recall off the top of my head but not sure we have any kind of fan system, motorized or otherwise. These seem pretty legit if installed correctly. Anyone have experience with them?

We had these. Put them on the backside roof so they don’t show from the street. My current house has ridge vents which seem to work well.

I've got some in my new (to me) house and I was up in the attic 2 days ago and noticed it was significantly cooler than the rooms below that had no AC running.

Are the solar powered fans any different than the electric ones, other than the power source?

If you have enough ridge on your roof, and enough soffit vents, I would fully recommend them
If you go with whirlwind bib vents, just know if they get damaged, or have a defect, you will hear it every time they turn
As far as powered attic vents go, I would stay away... when, not if, the motor goes out, you're also replacing shingles along with the massive hole you cut in your decking... considering you cant just replace the motor anymore and you have to replace the whole unit... we'll, i would run away before giving it a second thought

Make sure they're good quality with metal ball bearings for the whirly birds instead of plastic. Plastic melts at high speeds i.e. hurricane. This leads to.the turbine freezing and being ripped off. Electric fan motors will always burn up. Electric motor on a solar unit would probably also.

I replaced the motor on one I had in a previous house.

They work great but aren’t cheap. The ones we install are called attic breeze

All powered attic fans need to be placed in front of a moving asphalt roller.
