Should I do irregation on my new home build?

I had irrigation at my house in Charlotte and it was great. My second home in Baton Rouge I chose not to do it because everyone said you don’t need it in South La. I moved sprinklers around until the grass was really established and broke them out a few times when we had a drought but haven’t in a couple of years. I was quoted 3k for a 3 zone system that covers my front yard and left side of my house, along with the flower beds( right side is all concrete to a rear load garage).
Would you spend the 3k on it?

I would do it now. If I was smart I would have done mine when we built our home. Now I'm planning it years later

What type of grass? Sod or seed?
I put mine in myself and it wasn’t too bad. I have 14 stations plus 2 just on flower beds so 3 would be easy.
It would depend on how drought tolerant your grass is and how well you want it to look.

i have it and while it was nice when my house was first build, it is not necessary now that the sod is established.

I would do it and not think twice.
I live in S LA and built a new home 2 years ago and didn't do irrigation.
I had it done this May for around 3k, similar setup to what you need. They guys did a great job taking care of my existing yard, but it would have been a million times easier to do it during construction.
I have a Rain Bird system with 4 zones. I have a schedule programmed, but also use the app to skip days if needed.

I know in SWLA we have a very high clay pan and very little top soil. During the spring - late summer, we are always 3 weeks away from a drought. Even if we do get large amounts of rain, the topsoil dries out quick and due to lack of topsoil, can run out of moisture quick. I would install. By keeping a constant moisture on your lawn and not let if fluctuate too much, you have a healthier lawn which can mean a thicker lawn.

I’m in Baton Rouge area and the house we bought came with it. I can honestly say I’ve turned it on twice in the five years we have been here. I would not spend the money for it. If I turned it on today I’m sure half the sprayers would have to be dug out to be able to pop up. I have to cut my grass every week to week and a half it needs no help to grow.

If it’s like mine, one or 2 zones don’t even work and one or 2 valves leak through, causing holes in the yard. And no one is willing to do repair on them. Been a major headache for me, so they’ve been abandoned. We didn’t know the sprinkler existed when we bought the house, though, so nbd.

I wish I only had to cut mine once a week at most.
Its slowing down now, but I was up to every 3-4 days last month.

Up here, you either have sprinklers, you drag hoses around all summer, or you have dead grass.
Getting sprinklers installed was a huge time saver for me, and it actually uses less water than when I dragged hoses on weekends.

Bruh I’ve seen your gun collection, you definitely should put in a sprinkler system. I’m guessing most people with the type of neighborhood or house you’ll have will have one.

The people who have the prettiest yards around here all have irrigation, not sure if that is the reason why, or if people that take care of their yard are more likely to have them.

Lol. I’m running out of money on this house build and I just had a new custom come in.
Do I spend the 3k on sprinklers, Swaro Z8i, or gallowtech for my gun room
