We just formed up our house. I have meeting with Demco next week to plan out how we are going to run electricity to the house. Our house is 300ft from the nearest pole. Running it under ground is mostly likely the only option with all the trees we have where they are going to have to run it. What kinda price per foot am I looking at? I know it won’t be cheap.

If you pay them to dig it, it will be absurdly expensive. Go rent a trencher for $150 and do it yourself.

I was about the same distance from the nearest pole/transformer. If they can utilize an existing transformer for the actual distance, they won’t have to put a box in your yard.

For me the cost was $1200 for the Demco tie-in.

I don’t mind doing that. I just know if that had to do it.

We will have to have a transformer box. My parents are building next door and are going to tie in to the same run.

speak with your Demco rep first. I figured out the hard way, you save almost no money by trenching underground yourself. I did mine and they still charged me $900 just to run the wire and make the connections, they said it would have be $1000 if they had done the whole job. I spent $200 on the trencher and $200 on the conduit. You can schedule a meeting with them to discuss the path forward and the cost. Demco handles thing much differently than Entergy

Good advice.

Definitely get a price from Demco first.

As this poster states you're going to pay them to have to mobilize a crew anyway to pul the wire regardless.

Demco is one of the easier companies to deal with.

Dealing with Entergy is worse than dealing with the State government.

When I called the other day they said my meeting would go way smoother if I had my temp pole and pan already set. I’ve never done this and I don’t know why that would be a hurdle, I’m just passing that along.

I'm having a backup generator installed here soon and Generator Supercenter (Houston) came out and quoted me. Our natural gas comes in on one side of the house and the electrical main on the other so I was either going to have to take gas or electrical to the location we put the generator. They quoted me $15/LF for underground gas and $16/LF for underground electrical. That was after 20 LF of underground gas or electric that's baked into their quote. I believe that was hand digging too.

That’s not terrible. Someone told me they thought it was upwards of 80 a ft which sounds absurd. That would be $24,000 for the distance I need to run.

You are gonna need 2.5 inch pvc, which is about $35 per 10 feet right now, as well as your wire, which if you use 4/0 aluminum, you will have 3 legs at about $1 per ft. Just materials will be a bunch
