what is the most reliable brand of fridge?
Now we are only interested in only top freezer / basic versions. Full disclosure, if you say Samsung you are automatically disqualified.
TIA

What happened to your fridge? Just curious why you had to replace it instead of just replacing a $500 part or something?

ice maker went out last month -- after about ~400 spent and still not working we had the company remove parts. Cost me about 200 and bought one for the counter for 150.
Now it stopped cooling - another company called and have spend 440 (3 visits) and still not working. Told me another 160 for the part to make it cool. Were just over it at this point.

Whirlpool, Frigidaire, GE. In no particular order. We have a GE. Been solid.
Had a Kenmore that was actually an LG and it was good while it lasted, the roll of the dice with those is the when will they break. Most appliance places don't want to work on them and the parts are expensive, at least were when we replaced it with a GE after 6 years.

I've had a Whirlpool since around 07 and have only had to replace the ice maker one time in it after working on it a few times to make it work. It finally gave up the ghost and I replaced it.
It's a 21 cu. ft. side by side by the way. If this one goes out, I'll not hesitate to get another.

Appliances are all crap these days. Buy mid to lower end and just replace when they break, if not DIY fix.

Ice makers are the #1 failure items on refrigerators.
Getting harder and harder to find a good service tech.

I have a 3yo GE that was $3k + and the lcd screen broke ($300 part) and it now freezes everything and I can’t adj the temp
I understand your frustration I also had to replace the keypad/screen on the microwave for $250
Aggravating when you spend $15k on appliances and you have to fix them 2-3yrs

I also think it’s just a crapshoot.
We have a 2004 LG Top freezer fridge that we have had zero problems with. I think simple is the best answer. I don’t need it to put a man on the moon. Keep my food cold. Don’t break.
I will never own another Samsung anything. I hear similar hate for Lg so who knows?

I see all the hate for Samsung on here, but we've had all Samsung appliances for several years now... fridge, oven, microwave, washer/dryer.
Only thing I've had to replace was the temp sensor in the dryer. Guess we've been lucky with them.

I'm pretty annoyed at our 2 year old Kitchenaid dishwasher. It's quiet, it cleans great, but the damn door hinge sheared off the rivet/pin that it rotates on. It's working through the other side as well. I rigged a fix and have my pieces ready to rig the other side when it breaks, but that should never happen.

Brand new Samsungng and the icemaker has never worked right and they have no solution....class action action lawsuit had to be filed....pitiful.

Wolf
I assume you mean Sub Zero, they own Wolf, and Wolf doesn't make refrigeration that I know of.
We have SZ separates that we have had for over 25 years, no issues with either one BUT Napolean says that era was the high watermark and they have gone down hill as well.
Funny enough we have a Samsung at the camp that has been flawless for 14 years. I keep expecting it to be dead every we go down but it keeps running.

It’s all junk and meant to break so you’re buying one again in 5 years not 15-20 like you should
