Somewhat, yes.

The other problem is they are made for a certain price point and everyone wants a certain level of tech or looks built in.

Then you add in BS like green energy and water savings, which makes things more difficult and more likely to break.

So they continually cost cut on parts and this is what we get.

ETA: what is complete BS is the mark up on parts though. It’s absurd. I’ve seen $250 for a control board on a washer that was $600-800.

I have 0 issue with parts mark up, but it shouldn’t cost you 4X to build something from parts. More like 1.5 or 2x.

I have had a Frigidaire since ‘07 and it has been solid….no problems out of it at all. You may have trouble getting one with the freezer at the top, though.

Buy lower end models. They may break but the failures are well documented because the designs have been in use many years.

Built a new house seven years ago and went full-tilt on the appliances so we went with Subzero fridge. Haven't had any problems with it or the Wolf items we got. Also, got ours made without an ice maker because we got a Scottsman built in that makes the Sonic ice.
