Recommendations for kids outdoor playsets

Needing to get one for the boys. I know the HDPE sets are the best but I am not sending 10K on this. Looking at the wooden sets. Any recommendations on a particular brand?

I went through this a year ago. Looked at sets all online. Ended up getting a kit from our local lumber supplier. You can pick out the set and they will give you everything to build yourself. I ended up adding a few things and making it a little bigger, but it was way cheaper than buying a built kit or one of those cheap ones that will fall apart in a few years.

My sister opted for one of those Ninja Course sets for her kids.
No slide, but everything else on a normal playset is available for them, and she can just adjust it as the kids get bigger. Added bonus that you can take it down whenever necessary.
You need to have the right trees for this option though.

i went with Gorilla brand and it's been solid. Instructions were very clear and coherent. Assembly took a weekend (by myself, prob could've knocked it out in a long day with a helper). Shop around because a lot of 3rd parties carry Gorilla and you can find deals.

I know you mentioned wooden sets, but we put one of these in our yard about 10 years ago.

Prices have gone up, as I think we paid about $1,200 or so for it. Took my wife and I the better part of a full day to assemble in all. I think we got the frame up and walls installed one afternoon, and came back the next day to get the roof on and slide and ladder and swings put on.

Built this one for my kids around christmas. Instructions were clear and there was a step by step app with animations, but holy hell was it a lot of steps and pieces and fasteners. Took 22 hours building by myself while being pretty handy.
All of these cheaper options use some type of cheaper/lightiweight wood that porbably wont last 10 years. Its holding up decent in 9 months.

We had a Rainbow Castle Clubhouse playset for years and it was absolutely perfect. The kids loved it. Their friends loved it. It was used a lot until they became too cool to play on it, but they still used the swings even as teenagers. Rock solid.

I have one of the Raindow redwood sets and it still looks brand new after 10 years.

Backyard discovery Sam’s brand is all cedar. If you go to the actual backyard discovery website it’s cheaper than Sam’s or Amazon plus free shipping. Took me, my dad, and my FIL a weekend to put it together. Seal it with ReadySeal and it’ll last a long time.
HDPE is nice but it gets scorching hot sitting in the sun in the summer, worse than metal. Cedar is much better.

Build one yourself. Itll be half the cost, last twice as long, and be way cooler than a kit.
We bought one from Costco for about $1800 and it is a hunk of shite.

Bought one from a family whose kids outgrew it. Home-made setup with pressure treated lumber with two swings, two slides and a two level "pirate house." Paid $100 for it and paid two guys $200 to move it and set it in place. Way easier and cheaper than paying for and spending a weekend to build a sto-bought kit.
Sold it for $250 ten years later.
Whatever you do, wait until temperatures get below two rats fricking in a wool sock.
