Pool owners of the OT - what kind of rail is around your pool deck?

The rail around mine is wood but I’m thinking a metal one would look classier. It’s about a 72 inch drop from the pool deck to the ground below so I definitely need something sturdy.

OT Poors have above-ground pools.

Riding the rails was a great thread once upon a time.

Chain linked fence with barbed wire on top. F*ck the HOA!

that's really deep for an above ground pool

We raised the pool deck to make it safer to dive into the pool.

Wood is fine around the pool deck. Of course, it'll take a little work to keep it from weathering and warping in t elements. You'll have to put a water seal or similar wood treatment on it at least every other year to keep it looking nice.
Metal railing would be the way to go if you're looking for low maintenance. A little bit more cost up front, but low maintenance for a long life, and ultimately a lower cost since you don't have to spend money on Thompson's water seal to keep it up.

I had wrought iron with intermediate brick columns around mine.
Not bad from a maintenance standpoint.
Don't skrimp(s) on the grade of metal you spec.

Steel fence. Put it up in 2002. It's steel grate after all these years. There were neighborhood peacocks in my yard when I took this pic.

Is it still “grate” after that post. A dictionary and thesaurus would help with writing
