Rough guessing/measuring, that seems like it could be a good spot.

My current closet is 18 X 7.5, and when my wife was alive we filled up every inch of that sucker.

What is the ceiling height? Is it tall enough to have two levels of hangers and storage on top of that? Might be cheaper to build with a taller ceiling rather than more SqFt

I don't think those dimensions are big enough for a master closet. You are best case going to get a usable space of
10-6" of double hanging space.

Assuming the door is in the middle and it's effectively two 5x5 closets then he could have the shelves like an L on each end cap so it'll be 10'6" + an extra 6'6" or so on the sides.

More than enough for a master closet. We all have too much stuff.

4'11" is too narrow for it to be two sided. Go at least 6-7' wide. The length is manageable.

Wider for sure unless this is not a walk in.

If we can't manage to mage it wider or longer, I may just add another closet in the bedroom.

We have two 6’x10’ closets in our master. My wife uses all of hers and half of mine.

Also, are you trying to have all the clothes in there? We have a dresser in the bedroom where we keep all socks, underwear, undershirts, etc. And another small one where we keep some of our boys clothes. They're still young enough at 2 and 7 where we give them baths/showers in our bathroom, and it is easier to keep some of their stuff they wear around the house in that little dresser. We don't have a ton of drawers in the closet, since they take up space and you lose hanging space. I think it is a 60 inch wide dresser with two deep drawers, two shallow drawers above them, and three shallow/skinny drawers above that. The small ones up top are perfect for socks and underwear. We've got them sorted and I have the two bottom ones and one of the middle ones. Wife and kids stuff in the rest.

Our goal is to have 1 dresser (mine), side night stands, and a bed in the room. We sold our house that had no room and our master was always the storage. Including the baby bed, and the baby's clothes. Had enough . Looking like we may make that her closet with built in drawers, if we can and we'll make me a closet in the room. If she runs out of room, that's on her. She can take the kids closets

And in all honesty, if it's not big enough, then you can't keep as much shite. That's a woman's problem 98% of the time.

Ha, same here. We have a little bit of work to do to get it where we want it, but the wife said she wants the bedroom to look like a nice hotel. We already have the King bed, matching nightstands, and some of the work on the walls done. Still need to get rid of one of the dressers and paint the other walls. Our toddler is still sleeping in a pack and play in our bedroom, but we're going to redo our older son's room, probably bunk beds, and they'll start sleeping in there together to clear out space in our room.

Yep, 7 x whatever.

If you calculate 2 feet of hanging space for each row (left and right) and 3 feet in between.

My SIL with a degree in home design did their master closet with a desk-type-table across the back end, complete with lighted mirrors and a chair. It's her makeup table and she leaves everything just like she wants it, shuts the door when she leaves, and it's there ready to go. And all her makeup and hair stuff is not cluttering the bath.

Just something to consider.

My master closet is going to be 6x8.5" and only because it is all I could fit when I renovated the master bath. I wish I could go bigger b/c it's not nearly enough space and that's just for me b/c I'm not married.

ETA: b/c its smaller, I'm going to hire a carpenter to build me custom stuff so I can utilize every inch of it.

MUCH too small for shared closet if you ask me.

We have separate but symmetrical closets that are both about ~7x12 and we both fill them
