I had been using a hand me down 20 year old corded blower that my parents gave me when I moved Into my house. It finally bit the dust.

I’m over extension cords so I’m looking for gas or battery powered. Within the next couple of years I’ll be in a much bigger place so I’m looking for something that will last and can handle being put to use.

Do battery powered blowers work well? What kind of use can you get on a single charge? Or should I stick to gas?

Yes. Look at the EGO brand. It's what I have, and several others on this board as well.

I've used mine over an hour with almost constant use, and still had plenty of juice left on the battery.

When you say bigger place, how big are we talking?

Dewalt 20v blower. Works fantastic with a 5AH 20v battery.

My Ryobi 40v is 3 years old and still going strong. Would buy again. I’ll never frick with a gas blower again.

I think an hours worth of blowing would be plenty for the place. My current yard and driveway are pretty small so corded works here. I’m looking up EGO right now. Thank you for the info

This. I have a 40V Ryobi, too, and it's great. Unless you're a pro, electric is the way to go.

Looking at the two suggestion, the Ryobi 40V is $50 cheaper right now at Home Depot. Any reason to pay the extra for EGO 56V?

I just bought an echo. I considered the Ego, but it was double the cost and my last gas blower lasted 10 years.

Yep, works great. Plus the batteries match all my cordless tools so I only need one type of charger.

This. I just don't think I will ever be able to bring myself to buy battery powered outdoor equipment. I currently own an Echo blower, Echo Weed eater, Honda lawnmower, and an old school 4 cycle engine edger.

we have a similar set up minus the edger. I've been using the edgeit pro disc on my weedeater for a few years and it works well.

My old blower was a hitachi that I bought at lowes for around $75. I'm shocked it lasted as long as it did.

pick up an EGO string trimmer at some point with a battery and then you'll have 2 to use for either tool.

EGO line replacement is ridiculously easy.

i got a 5 aH with my string trimmer, and a 2.5 aH with the blower and i never run out of battery on the blower. the trimmer will eventually run out so its nice to have the extra battery. i hardly notice the extra weight of the 5; its maybe 2lbs heavier than the 2.5.

i will never buy another brand.
