In would encourage a central leader and build around that. Limes are random sloppy trees. Also looks too shady. Most citrus tolerate wayyyy more shade than advertised but lime is the second most tropical citrus and really wants full sun.

Have you inspected the roots? Results like that are pretty much always a root issue.

I’ve been feeding it banana specific fertilizer since putting it in the ground a few months ago.
Hate to tell you but if that banana only went into the ground a few months ago you are nowhere close to fruiting.

Well it was in a 20g pot for almost a year before I put it in the ground.

We made the trip to Pine Island/Bokeelia. Just to give you an idea; it’s about 80-90 miles south of Tampa. On the Gulf side of Florida. Closest major town is Cape Coral. Pine Island is largely undeveloped because it’s battered by hurricanes on a near yearly basis. There’s probably more mango farms per square mile there than in any other place in Florida. Some as small as 5-10 acres with one approaching several hundred acres.
The Mango Mania Fest itself was sort of a bust if looking for rare or unique mangoes. There was only 3-4 vendors selling mangoes or plants. Would probably be better described as a local pop up market than a mango festival. MangoPalooza was being held in Loxahatchee and the Florida Rare Fruit Fest in West Palm too. I’m sure this impacted things. We bailed after only 15-20 minutes.
There are some farms and we hit a few including Fruit Scapes, The Mango Factory, Hot Tropics and a small mom and pop shop. Stanley’s was closed as well as Promised Land and Leela. Some due to freeze damage and recovery and others due to the other festivals.
We did manage to find some mangoes. I was a bit disappointed in that most were what I’d call the usual suspects. Glenn, Haden, Keitt, Tommy, Kent, Nam Doc Mai, Mahachanok, Valencia Pride. Pricing was also borderline absurd. Fruit Scapes was charging $8lb for NDM and Maha. $10lb for anything boutique like Sweet Tart, CAC, etc.
Hot Tropics was focused on Thai mangoes. Which is sort of fun because the owners are Vietnamese. Anyhow; they also sell food. Best Bahn Mi I’ve had in a while.
The Mango Factory had Valencia Pride, Kent and Carabao for $4lb. Grabbed a VP and some Carabao there.
Ended up with Valencia Pride, Carabao, Irwin, Florigon, P22, Glenn, CAC and a few Mahachanok. Made for a fun getaway.

SW Florida is the one part of the state I've never been to. Always wanted to check out Pine Island Nursery since it is such a huge operation. Sounds like some basic mangos but I'll take a Haden/Kent/Keitt/Glenn any day over a store bought Tommy! Glad y'all made a good day of it.

quick banana question
This is a rajapuri pup I bought from a retail nursery it was by far the worst condition…they sent me a brown shriveled pup about the size of a bic lighter. And of all the starts this is the one sending up more pups LOL
Should I cut these out? The main pup is about 12” tall now

the small cavendish banana is a pretty plant. This is one that I rescued out of a really bad location.
I’m going to keep this one potted and just enjoy the foliage. Frogs like to get up under the leaves and chill out

Tried my hand at grafting. Put Some cecilove grafts and lil gem grafts onto some Pickerings and an m-4 that was struggling. Guess we will see what happens.
I have 2 cecilove and 6 lil gem and 1 m4 from my tree in the Nola area if anyone wants them. They aren’t the best Scions bc no budding at tips Cept my m4 but free to anyone that’s wants em

I need a good knife. I was using box a box cutter with new blades for shaping and wrapping the tip was kind of a pain. Ripped the tape a few times. I need longer bags but these ziplock sandwich bags are best I got.

Believe it or not; Pine Island Nursery isn’t actually in Pine Island. It’s all the way over in Miami. Other side of the State. I had no idea either. Went to look it up and found out while we’re there.
