Yeah it's pretty cool! If it will actually set some fruit I'll be pumped. Next year I'll probably get a couple of cuttings from confirmed self fertile varieties now that I know I can overwinter them. Thinking of avoiding the 200 lb pot situation and planting in the ground then putting the greenhouse over it.

Build a big raised bed, 24” or so high. I used stacked 2x12s with cut 4x6s in the corners. Put a bunch of cardboard inside it flat (the earthworms like it). Fill will the same potting mix you used in the pot.

My damn white birds of paradise just fricking died. They will be dug up in a week. After I saved them from the garbage a few years ago, they are just damn dead. 
Three months ago, they looked incredible. I was worried that they would take over the side of the house. Now they are fricking dead.
It has rained here about every day for 3 months and they just rotted out. Its all I can figure.

Do not dig them up. It's a root suckering plant. Those do not look nearly bad enough to presume they are finished. Even if everything above ground wilts and dies leave it alone until you are sure the roots don't send up healthy new stalks.

They have a few new leaves growing but I would bet that is going to stop soon. That ground right there is soaked. We have had so much rain at my place for three months now, its a miracle everything is not dead. All the leaves on my hibiscus are turning yellow. Same with my bridal plumeria. Even my foxtail palm in front doesnt look great. I honestly think it is too much water. I pulled the mulch back off these birds and the ground is just soaked.

I'd just give it time. We are heading into the driest month of the year for the south. My money is on them bouncing back.

I love that thing. Looks awesome. I see you have it planted as well. What do you do in the winter? Just cut it off?
I am not sure what kind mine is but its one of my favorite plants. I have it potted (not sure if it needs a bigger pot) and its popping new leaves out very fast. I actually just gained a new one. The first 5 or so that popped out, one would drop off. I just gained a new one and my outside leaves still look great. There is only one leaf left from when I bought it. The rest popped out since. Presently mine is about 7-8 foot to the top of the biggest leaf. I only have one leaf that has any damage at all and that is the oldest that was on there when I got it. I actually think I damaged it in the truck on the ride home. LOL
Those leave on yours look massive. I am hoping mine get that big one day but like I said, I am not sure what kind it actually is.

other than eating them fresh, what are you using guavas for? I have about 20 sitting on the counter now. Thinking about making a syrup with them.
Second guava crop has much bigger and uniformly sized fruit than the first. I don't really notice any difference in taste, though.

I bet if you juice them and strain the juice it would make a fine jelly. Absolutely zero experience with processing guava though.
