Is it just me or has there been an explosion of wasp this summer?

I agree. I can’t find a way to fight them. Just wasted 50 bucks on some dumb traps. Their nests pop up quickly.

Seems like twice as many at my house this summer. Bastards are everywhere.

My theory is that it is due to reduced mosquito spraying around my house. I have fireflys again, which I havent seen in years.

I keep seeing people say this but I haven't seen an increase at all at my house.

I spray the eaves and bricks with this, though, and it does a pretty decent job of killing them off around me.

Lower at my house. Pretty sure it's because I started killing all individuals I saw around the back porch immediately. All it takes is one.

I made the mistake of including a pair of hollow walls around my outdoor shower enclosure, they are sided with horizontal deck boards that have small gaps between them. It looks great and does the job while allowing moisture to escape but they turn out to be ideal places for red wasps and yellowjackets to nest

I just got done removing a pair of pie plate sized nests, those frickers are ruthless

Quite a few this year on soffits and I've been using dawn dish detergent slightly diluted and using a spray bottle that streams at least 6 feet. Works well.

I used delta dust and a cobweb duster. Dusted all the soffits, windows, doors…etc. Anywhere they make a nest.

I also sprayed Demand CS on the soffits and around the house.

Damn things were crawling through the soffits and inside my screen porch. Hence defeating the purpose of said screen porch.

Haven’t seen a single one since doing this.

Yep. My mutt attacked a nest under our patio furniture about a month ago and lost. Sprayed and got rid of them.

Cooking burgers tonight and he found another nest in the same spot. Lost again, but his muttley attempt was impressive.

We've had a ton more at my house (Northshore). Multiple have gotten in to the house from open doors to the point that I've been paranoid that there's a nest inside somewhere.

And god forbid I leave my garage door open on a Saturday while I'm doing yardwork. A nest will go under construction somewhere in there immediately.
