Wife asked for a cutting board to cover the sink when she wants to entertain and have like a buffet out.
The sink doesn't have a lip at the back so I added the extra butcher block to rest on the counter top. The front bottom has a groove to rest over the front lip of the sink so it doesn't move and sits just about flush.
I need to clean it up and oil it up.

I'll take it if she don't want it.

What about adding small suction cups to the bottom of it?

Nice work there. May not be the feedback you want to hear but I thick it sticks out too far. That edge needs to be half that width or smaller so that it’s a closer flush fit with the countertop edge.

Are you not concerned about people bumping the edges with it not being flush to the counter?

Round off the front corners IMO

nice work
I’d rip an inch off the front and bevel the edge

Doh...just realized this is a farmhouse style sink, the butcher block piece is throwing it off for me. Since the sink won't be used at the same time as this, lose the butchers block piece and put some legs underneath to sink bottom (possibly hinged for storage). A single piece of wood the width of the board to the sink bottom would work as well.

Do it that way and you could flush fit the whole thing front to back.

Agree.
I can see shirt sleeves and shirt tails catching constantly and even causing the whole thing to fall off the counter or into the sink.(at least round off the corners severely)

It would help to see the sink without the cutting board on it.

IMO the back board should extend all the way to the edge on both sides. Would give you a much cleaner/finished look.

Swap the lip on the front to the inside of the sink. This would allow the board to be cut flush with the front of sink but also a lip on the inside would help lock it in place

I may have went with something more discreet to make sure it has something to sit on. Potentially just some small black hardware, similar to corner brackets, that would lay on top of the counter.

i'd remove that back butcher block piece and put one on each a side and then make the front flush with the counter edge.

I sympathize with having more counter-space for parties but I foresee not being to access your sink a huge pain in the arse. You use your sink a lot more than you think for little things. You’ll have to pick up the board with food on it and move it just to rinse something off or wash your hands. And with food all over the counter, you won’t have any space to place the board.

Hate to hijack the thread, but what type of countertops are those in your picture? Also do you have much trouble with them staining?

Reason I ask, I just moved into a house a few months ago with the exact same countertops. They seem to stain relatively quick. They may just need to be resealed, but I’m curious if you have any issues with them.

Quartz. While we dont seem to have any stains, we are quick to wipe something up, just in case.

A) Great concept and i think it looks great.

II)

i think just cut it back where it's closer to flush. I'd imagine you can't be 100% flush because you want to keep that lip to sit on top of the sink

3. I like it.
