Lowe's for plumbing stuff, and Home Depot for everything else

In my experience Home Depot employees are crap but Lowe's employees are usually decently knowledgeable.

Having said that, it still depends on what I'm looking for. HD has better flooring and paint options but for almost everything else I enjoy Lowes.

Both for certain things. I like the Ryobi One+ line at HD for small DIY home projects items because they're cheap and some of them are unique tools that no other brand makes. A lot of times one will carry a certain brand that the other one don't, so it just depends on what I'm looking for.

IMO, both stores are about equal when it comes to employee knowledge. It's a hit or miss...and usually it's miss.

Kinda depends on what I’m looking for. Tend to lean Home Depot but only ever so slightly. That’s mostly due to past history in the same business and personal connections.

I usually price online then make my choice by price point for individual items. If I’m just going in on a whim, it depends on which is more convenient at the time. The two closest to me are literally across the street from each other.

I'm guessing it's area specific on which is better. I prefer HD usually, but Lowe's is closer to my house so I usually go there.

Lowe’s hands down and I have both within 3 miles of my home. Nothing seems to be organized at the HD closest to me but maybe that’s specific to that individual store’s management.

This...

With that said however, I have to agree with others; it depends on what I'm looking for. Here lately Lowes lumber has been crap.

I like Lowe's better but go to HD just because of the convenience of its location to my house.

Lowe’s. Mostly because it’s closer. Pricing is very similar. Ones orange, ones blue.

Shop both so no real preference other than if one carries a product I want and the other doesn't.

Just bought an ECHO SRM 225 gas trimmer from Home Depot since Lowe's doesn't carry that brand.

Lowe’s for many of the same reasons already listed.

Lowe's staff is usually more helpful. However, Home Depot usually has slightly better lumber (particularly the select pine and poplar even though both are pretty bad). Also, all of my cordless tools are Milwaukee so I'm kind of handcuffed to them if I need something that day.

HD has a better selection of treated lumber and lumber in general. I find Lowe's has better deals on decent tools (Dewalt and Bosch). Lowe's is a lot closer so that is where I typically go.

I don't use the staff as I usually find the aisle/bin for the items I need online if I don't already know.

Most people don't know, but you can look up what you want online, and it tells you exactly where it is in the store

It depends.

At my old house in another town, HD was superior to Lowes.

At my new house, the local HD is a disaster, and I use Lowes.

Home Depot

I had multiple bad experiences at Lowes in a short period of time so I gave up on them.

I prefer the HD power tool brands.

Other than that it doesn't really matter.
