Gunite vs Fiberglass Pool

Just drain it and spray some flex seal over area that need repair. If its real bad flex tape the flex seal.

Gunite takes a touch more care but nothing significantly different. Given you spend a ton more time looking at it than swimming in it, I’d go with the better looking set up

get someone to inspect both. you could have issues with either that could be very costly. gunite you can build the pool how you want but the plaster could last 10-15 years or 25-30. same for fiberglass, you could have different issues with each that can lower the life. in general, assuming you dont get a bad fiberglass pool, you would have less issues with fiberglass but gunite can also be trouble free if someone did a good job building it.

This seems to be so true. My neighbor spent a small fortune putting a pretty large in-ground pool with a jacuzzi off to the side and he spent another small fortune on the deck around the pool. His then 2 young daughters lived in it all summer long and they had a lot of pool parties.

Fast forward about 5 years and the girls hardly ever go in the pool now and I haven't heard but a couple pool parties going on at their house over the past couple years.

It's a hole in the ground that eats up money as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn’t be afraid of a gunite pool if the plaster is in good shape. I bought a house with a gunite pool after only taking care of vinyl liner pools and didn’t see a big change. I did have it replastered and it was way cheaper and faster than I thought, but it was already chipping when I bought the house.

So if it’s a house you may be in long term, you have the option to change the color when it’s time for a refinish. Mine was 22 years old before we refinished and now it’s brand new again.

As long as you don’t have a tree dropping acorns right above it take the gunnite pool. But frick the stains left by the acorns. You can get them out but it takes some work

The only time I want a pool is after cutting the grass on those 95° July days.
