Not breakers, but other mass produced industrial goods. I'm speculating.

I’m on the supply side of this and I can tell you it’s a nightmare. The sad part is that the manufacturers caused all this when they cut back production and labor based on “market” project early on during the pandemic. They have never been able to catch up since due to that action and all of the raw material, component, and labor shortages coupled with logistical problems. What I’m hearing now is that labor is a big factor throughout the full scope of production, from end to end. From where I sit, which is at a high level, manufacturers are not willing to incur costs of running factories for extended periods past normal production hours to catch up on backlog because it would impact profitability. They have all increased prices dramatically as well so in the grand scheme of things they can produce less, reduce costs, and increase profits. Factor in this to that all have force majeure and aren’t taking any financial responsibility for missed dates. This has left distribution and contractors on island to pick up all the pieces. The guys at the factories in Mexico I talk to say they are fully staffed & have plenty of material on hand to build panels but they can only produce so much based on the amount of time they can run the plant. The other “excuses” are mainly coming from American middle and upper management.

Add in the stuff we are receiving is crap.
Have a panel and so far there were 5 broken breakers in it, now we have to pull everything out and make sure nothing else is broke. Oh and we get to hope for replacements within a reasonable time.

Electrical is one of the first contracts I buy and I tell the electrician to order his panels and breaker’s immediately.
The big issue right now is transformers. The city of Denton, TX has a 52 week lead time on transformers.

I’ve also heard that manufacturers are charging 100% restocking fee in the event you make things work on site.

That’s not true, and the resins haven’t been a shortage issue in the last 6 months.
Milbank dug themselves a hole, and aren’t willing to get themselves out of it by restricting orders. They have told me the demand for 320 meters is higher than ever and they keep taking any order thrown at them

I needed a meter base for a rent house two weeks ago and was told I was lucky they just happened to get some in that had been on order for a while.
That was after looking everywhere else.

I heard on pretty good authority that at one point there were "in excess of 2,000,000" QO120 breakers on back order.
Single pole, 20A, SqD, QO breakers - most bread and butter item I can think of. fricking joke.
Meter cans - check with a Ronk distributor. You might end up with a double throw switch that you don't need or want but you'll get lugs in, out & a socket.

All MV transformers are around 52+weeks now. 13.8kV and 4160Vs ordered last March praying they will be here by May or we go to rentals/borrowed.

You should try ordering fans from any of the German companies right now. 75-90 week leads for the "quick ship" items. 120+ weeks for special order ones. It is madness. We are still hearing about the microchip shortage as well.

I can second this right now. Building ~180 MM high school right now. Switchgear was 52 weeks, chillers 40 weeks. No expediting available.
Luckily we jumped on it and signed guys up with little trouble.
