What brand do ya'll recommend. Most likely getting a Stihl, I love my Stihl trimmer, but I wanted to see the board's opinion on the matter.

If you already own a stihl, and know how good they are, no one here should be able to change your mind.
Stihl.

Depending on how much you blow, battery powered is the way to go.

I have a stihl 550 or 650. It’s probably 6-8 yrs old. No issues with it at all.

I would urge you to consider echo as well though.

Overkill for most yards. I have an Echo PB250LN and it's been a great little machine, starting its 5th Fall season now and not a hiccup out of it. My trimmer, edger, and chainsaws are Stihl but I had such a good run out of my original Echo blower that I bought another. The original lasted over a decade with very little maintenance outside of washing the air filter and hitting the spark plug with a wire brush every year or so.

Buy Stihl blower, buy stihl oil mix with fuel stabilization and mid grade non ethanol fuel. Profit

I have a 30 year old Stihl blower that has never back to the shop since I bought it.I use Stihl oil and add Stabil fuel stabilizer to all my gas.I have 4 Stihl chainsaws, weed eater and brushcutter.
I hear a Echo is very good brand but Stihl dealer I go to gives very service.

Damn. What do you do as far as maintenance besides using the Stihl oil and stabil? Do you winterize them?

I like my Echo PB413H blower. It’s 13 years old and serves me well but I want more power so I’m looking at either a push blower or an Echo 710 or 8010 series

I have several Stihl products but have a blower and chainsaw from 2005. Both work perfect.

Besides the noise pollution, they stir up dust. I have to sweep a thick layer of dirt and pollen off my deck and wash my truck after my neighbors blow for a couple of hours. One neighbor's backyard is basically dirt since he has dogs and his landscape guy blows the leaves off the dirt this time if year. There is a plume of dust that spreads over the neighborhood. Some areas around the country have banned blowers and I know there are many people in my neighborhood that feel the same as I do.

I have a stihl that’s about 3yrs old. Had to replace the carb on it already. It’s a knock off carb that seems to work better than the one stihl had on it originally. It can be finicky at times.

I have an echo pas for edging and trimming and that little dude doesn’t miss a beat. I don’t have a massive yard, but I have a couple of oaks and a big bald cypress in the back. I wanted to make sure I had enough arse end to push that crap around, so I went gas. I went stihl at the urging of the guy at K and N. Unless buying a chainsaw I will buy echo when a new purchase is needed.

Probably won’t buy from K and N either. The last 2 times I went in there for stuff they basically ignored me b/c I’m not a “yard guy”, which I assume is given away by my slacks. At least that’s the feeling I got.

I would say definitely buy from a local joint though. I hear good things about the guys at Geautreaux’s

I bought an echo weedeater and echo blower. They start really easy every time and no issues. Blower is on it's 4th year and weedeater on its second.

I run bel ray Synthetic SI7 oil and 100LL gas. I have a small airport half a mile from my house that I can get the gas and it makes a huge difference. Pump gas is hell on these small engines.
