Dumb question, but what are the trees that are flowering white right now?

Had one in-front of my house when I moved in. About a year later got a call from my neighbor while I was on vacation saying it was laying on my house. It had split right down the center.

Gorgeous when they bloom but they should all be cut down and filled with diesel. They all split down the middle.

The only dumb question, is the one not asked!

Cleveland pear tree is the way to go, same show, same size and shape, just don’t split

Bradford's are trash trees. Regular flowering pears are good. Dogwoods are blooming white now too.

The arborists call it “weak crotch.”

We have wild dogwoods blooming here in Central Alabama, along with the Bradford pears.

Dogwoods and wild pear are blooming here. Wild pear trees have about a 1" thorn that will puncture car tires. Kill all of them you can.

Bradford pears are helping the wild pears spread faster because they can cross pollinate.

We have one in our front yard right now, beautiful trees in spring and fall but I’ve heard bad things about them splitting, I try to keep ours well trimmed to keep the risk down and luckily it leans away from our house but I’m counting the days.

Bradford Pear. Horrible trees. I prune the ever loving crap out of mine an they haven't split yet, but you have to stay at them. Some varieties produce thorns once pruned and I haven't had that problem.

Had 3 removed. All split in first year I moved into house. Worst trees ever. Blooms also smell like rotting garbage.

With good reason.
They make a mess and will split in half with a fart sized wind.
Worthless trees that builders love to plant because they are inexpensive.

Eastern Redbud has pink flowers all along the leaf less branches right now. Beautiful tree for about a 2 weeks, then it's all green leaves.

Cleveland pears are also considered just as invasive as Bradford pears. Do not plant either of them.
